Viking 0 #1 February 8, 2006 Well my two year contract with Sprint is up and I'm thinking about going to cingular b/c of there rollover minute plans. Plus i really want the new sliver L7 phone. Anyone who is with Cingular give there opinion of the service, and reception?I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin
thegreekone 0 #2 February 8, 2006 I have Cingular and love it, mostly because I can talk to other Cingular customers (one in particular) until the cows come home with free mobile-to-mobile. That said, reception is such a regional thing. I am in the midwest, so I am not sure that helps you so much? Oh yeah, rollover GOOD.
Hambone 0 #3 February 8, 2006 cigular is better than sprint. Heads and shoulders above sprint. but Verizon is the clear leader. I switched from Sprint to Verizon, I had to pay to do it, but it has been worth it with the service. I haven't dropped a call yet with Verizon and I have had it for almost 4 months, wtih Sprint in the same time I would have dropped probably around 15 to 20 maybe 30 calls. Cingular is good they have neat phones and good service.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama
AggieDave 6 #4 February 8, 2006 I used to use Sprint. Then again, that was 8 years ago, so who knows how they are now. I've used Cingular for the past 5 years and its been good for me, overall good service, etc. Then again, in this area they've always been really strong since Cingular started out as Houston Wireless.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I've been on Cingular for a little over a year and was on At&T for a year prior to that. I haven't been very happy with Cingular due to dropped calls and too many no service areas. Sometimes I get 4 bars in my house and sometimes I get none. I'm going to be switching over to Verizon soon. As I write this I'm looking at the Jan. 2006 issue of Consumer Reports and Verizon seems to be the best over all in the 18 market they rate. Edited to add: Cingular is rated the worst in the same markets.
simplyputsi 0 #6 February 8, 2006 I've had cingular for almost 10 years now. I've had problems with it here and there but I've heard way more horror stories about sprint. Right now I only know of two places my phone does not work. One is a DZ and the other is right down the street from my house. However the other day it worked through the dead spot by my house. I have a few friends that like verizon a whole bunch. I'll stick with cingular though. Besides I have like 3000 roll over minutes all saved up.Skymama's #2 stalker -
brits17 0 #7 February 8, 2006 Anything is better than Sprint imo. I've had Cingular for almost a couple years and they're ok... better than Sprint, but I don't think as good as Verizon. This is according to my experience, consumer report Jan '06, and friend's opinions _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

bmcd308 0 #9 February 8, 2006 Cingular is very spotty, and there is a charge for roaming sometimes. Trouble is you never know whether you are roaming because of the way their phones work. So you have to call and bitch about the roaming charges. So far they have always taken them off my bill, but they always say that this is the last time. As another poster said, sometimes my phone works well in my house, and sometimes I get the "No Service" message. ---------------------------------- www.jumpelvis.com
Icon134 0 #10 February 8, 2006 I have switched a couple of times in the past several years... I hated sprint the most... and t-mobile wasn't much better... I'm currently with Verizon and my service has been nothing short of awesome. (that and I can call everyone in my family for free...) My brother just switched from Cingular (or at least a subsidary of) because of occational black out areas and spotty coverage in his house. tfelber 0 #11 February 8, 2006 I've been using AT&T (now Cingular) for more than 8 years. I've had my issues with them and I still use them. I travel all over the place including Europe and yes there are places I get poor or no reception, but I'd be willing to bet others have the same problem with their carriers... There have been times I was the only one with a signal and times where I was the only one without a signal. I use their nationwide plan so there are no roaming charges. All in-network calls are free. I use about 2500 anytime minutes a month and it costs me about $120. Thay have some very good signing bonuses if you ask including free minutes and phones. bwilling 0 #14 February 9, 2006 I've had Sprint, T-mobile, and (currently) Cingular... Cingular has the best coverage in the areas that I need coverage, but your mileage may vary! If Cingular has good coverage in your normal call area, I'd highly recommend them... but you need local opinions to really tell if that's true! Broke 0 #17 February 9, 2006 I am happy with my Sprint phone. I had a partner who had Cingular, and his phone would drop service more than my phone would. I worked with someone who switched from Verizon to Sprint because he droped signal with verizon a lot.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. Apollinaire 0 #18 February 9, 2006 I just got fed up with Sprint and their ridiculously bad customer service and shopped around and went with Verizon. When I went into Sprint they actually triaged the customers, put my name on a list on a big plasma and then made me wait forever while about ten employees chatted and me and the one other customer twiddled our thumbs. Then they said it was going to cost $60+ to fix the screen on my phone that was 5 years old. So I went to figuring and asked the dude how long the phones are supposed to last anyway and he said 3 years. My brain kicked in then and I asked him why I'd want to do that if I could walk out of there, take my phone number with me, get more minutes than the 350 minutes my husband and I shared all this time, and not have to ever enter their store again? I think he blinked a few times. I shopped Cingular and Verizon and they have EXACTLY the same minute plans. Verizon had better deals on phones and the guy there actually seemed happy to be helping me. Cingular phones were more expensive and not as cool. I also had to call in to ask how to get to the new vm system's tutorial and they were ultra helpful on the phone at Verizon too.
selbbub78 0 #19 February 9, 2006 I have Cingular, and have no issues with getting a signal ANYWHERE!!!! I have been in areas with Verizon customers that couldn't get a signal in areas that I was able to get. I'm very content with the ability to get a signal everywhere! wmw999 2,556 #20 February 9, 2006 I have Cingular, but last year when I was in SoCal I was unimpressed with their coverage there. It's great in Houston, but there were dead spots at Perris and when I was sightseeing. I have free roaming (not that expensive), so that wasn't an issue. I've been happy with their overall service, but you really want to go with someone that has good coverage where you are, because it's all about being able to just dial your phone wherever you are. Chrissay 0 #21 February 9, 2006 I have Cingular for a year or so [AT&T before that] and have had a good expereince so far with it. Good reception, love the rollover minutes and love the free mobile to mobile. But, as others have said previously, from what I have heard from friends, Verizon is a step above the rest. DoTheDrew 0 #22 February 9, 2006 I was forced to get sprint in the mountains of AZ because they were the only ones who provided coverage. And two years later I was glad to dump them. Now I have T-Mobile and I love it, for a few reasons. 1. 1 Year contract 2. No Roaming charges, T-mobile piggy backs off any cell tower. So no matter where you go, if there is a tower, you have coverage without a roaming charge. (I even get signal on Sicily Dropzone) 3. Calls between T-mobile users are free, unlike sprint who charges 5 bucks for this service. 4. 400 text messages a month for 5 dollars. And when I picked up my plan they were running a promotion, 1500 anytime minutes for 39.
freeflajankie 0 #23 February 9, 2006 What ever you do, DON"T go to Cingular... They suck ass... I have crappy service and they claim it's my phone, I have bought phones from them and world phones and they won't change my phone... They are assholes. And another thing that sucks is the bill... HOW can you get bills every month for over $200.00 for a plan that is supposed to be $80.00 when you have well over 5000 minutes saved in your pot? So don't go down that road, as soon as my contract is over they can kiss my sorry ass goodbye! And that's how I feel about them Skydivers are a bunch of insensitive jerks... freeflajankie 0 #25 February 9, 2006 Quote grow the fuck up ! You know what? I gave the guy my opinion... I have had NOTHING but problem with Cingular. So I will not recommend them. If you like them, that's good for you. But am I not entitled to my view of things??? Trust me if you hade spent HOURS on the phone with these guys AND spent HOURS at the cingular store but gotten no help from them except saying sorry we can't help you is there any thing else you can help me with? I'm sure you would have felt the same way as I do. So before you go and judge me and telling me to grow up, get the facts straight... OK. You enjoy Cingular and let me have my opinion and you have yours!!!Skydivers are a bunch of insensitive jerks... And that's why I don't skydive anymore!
