fallin_angel 0 #1 February 9, 2006 I am going to be in San Diego near the end of February and was trying to decide which DZ to go to. I know Elsinore, Perris, and Skydive San Diego are all in the area but I'm not sure which would be best. Skydive SD is probably closest but with the change in ownership does anyone know if it has become a tandem factory again? Opinions please! flyinghonu 0 #2 February 9, 2006 I jump at San Diego. Since the ownership change things have slowed down slightly but seem to be picking back up (it's been pretty nice here weather wise). Being as fair as possible, I would defend the DZ and say No, it's not a tandem factory. Will you share the ride up with tandems? Probably. But as I responded to another poster once before, I have never been bumped from a load nor I have ever been on a load with all tandems. Having said that, I'm sure this thread will now be enundated with posters talking about the drama that has occurred with the ownership change The fact is San Diego was and remains an absolutely beautiful place to jump with extremely friendly fun jumpers and staff. There is covered packing with plenty of room to actually do the packing. We have few to no "Sky Gods." We have an AWESOME pilot (Adam) and an equally awesome Otter, sometimes they run the Caravan too or instead of. If you are into BIG DZs, San Diego is probably not your best bet around here. I would highly suggest coming by and forming your own opinion. Plenty of Elsinore and Perris jumpers on this site to give you more info on those DZs. freeflyn 0 #3 February 9, 2006 All of the dropzones in SoCal are great, it depends on what you are looking for. If you want to crank out a bunch of jumps then Perris is the place to be. Elsinore has a pretty good pace and a has excellent vibe and great people. I haven't jumped in SD in years as I was there before the ownership change and it was just to slow. Hope you have a good time......
VectorBoy 0 #4 February 10, 2006 San Diego was always a tandem factory. Its just that the previous manager didn't disregard the regular jumpers. Improvements were made that were nice for the regulars and AFF students as well as the tandem side of the house. It was a nice balance. I'm curious to see how that trend turns out.
