What's it like to have a sister ?

Recommended Posts

They teach you about how women really are.
You can understand women as people instead of "the other sex". You don't get the "sales demo" view.

When we were younger, we all fought. "She/he is in my room and touching my stuff."

Once you get out of the house and have your own privacy and lives, that goes away. Then you accept/reject each other based on your personality as adults.

I shared a room with my sister until my oldest sister moved out.

Very well put... it hasn't really done me any good so far...

My little sister reciently expressed a dislike regarding my employer but that doesn't change how I feel about her.

I have four older sisters. They are great. They taught me to respect women(read instilled the fear of torture if I didn't).

I couldn't imagine not having them. I feel sorry you didn't have at least one.:(

Having a sister was easy for me, I never had to chase off any of her boyfriends, she told so many stories about how tough her older brother was she'd scare em all off herself. Of course those of you that know me could tell anyone those stories were pure B.S. cuz I'm a big pussy:P

I've got the best sister any guy could ask for.

Fun, witty, open, down-to-earth....I'm gonna call her and tell her I love her.

She's a partial quad with about 10% motor control from an auto accident over 30 years ago but has never let it get her down...she's kick-ass!
My reality and yours are quite different.

I wouldn't give up my sister for anything. I can always count on her and she is always honest with me, sometimes a little too honest but I wouldn't change her for the world. I count myself lucky to have 2 siblings that I get along with so well.
What you do speaks so loud, I cannot hear what you say.

ditto Emily! i absolutely count my lucky stars every nite for the 3 sisters i have.

Cocheese, this is such a sweet question! i have 3 sisters, but i'm closest to my two younger sisters (alli & jenn). we are all VERY different... but they truly are my best-friends! we are Very protective of each other and never hide what we have to say (no cattiness, just simply blunt) it sometimes leads to arguments, but we somehow forgive and forget instantly *dunno, i guess it's a sister-thing*

sometimes i wonder what it would be like to have a brother... do you have a brother? what's it like to have a brother?

Mel, I'm just flattered that you reply to my threads occasionally. Yes i have a brother, but it has never seemed like it for as long as i can remember. Even my mom thinks we are from 2 different worlds. I say hello to him once a year and that's about it. We quit talking as soon as i was big enough to kick his butt for a change.
Well I would love to be a big brother or little one (which ever you and your lovely sisters prefer)
But no ganging up on me and stuff ok ? Jeeze, you and your sisters could get me to do anything i bet. Would be hard to say no.

Girls are all sugar and spice, and all things nice.
Boys are snips and snails and puppy dog tails. (What's a "snip"?)

So as the oldest boy in the family, I got blamed for everything. Sis took advantage of that, because she knew she looked sweet and innocent, and that I'd get blamed for whatever she did.

Sisters are evil.

Well THAT explains a LOT! Now I understand...
:D:P

I used to think it was a huge deal to have to sleep in a bunk bed and share a room with my sister. Now I realize that it was cool to have a friend to talk things over with.

that's so poopy that you aren't close to your brother, but at least you say hello once a year as opposed to not at all :)

The problem with having sisters is this:

they have a fight with hubby, pick up the phone he asks who you calling? she says my brother xxxxx

he grabs his shit and leaves so fast his all you would hear is squealing tires...and nothing really happened except she was being bitchy!....grrrrrr:|

What's it like? Comforting. Fun. Strong. Wonderful. Exciting. So much more.

I come from a big family of sisters and brothers, and half sisters and brothers. All together, I am youngest of 9. We are so strong and we keep each other going. Laugh, cry, crawl, run... we are there for each other.

This becomes so much more evident when you lose a parent, and you need to be there to pick each other up.

So... I love it. :)

I grew up with three older brothers. So for them, it was all kinds of fun. The like to see how long they can sit on me, hold me in a figure four, and just plain torcher me before I went screaming to my mom. I was such a brat, but I had a reason to be! :P

Anyways....always wanted to have a sister, and now I do. She is someone that I can talk to any time. We go through our bad times and good times, we have just about everything in common, but most of all we have a great time laughing and just enjoying life when we hang out. Lesley is like a sister to me....and I hope that she knows that I am here for her anytime she needs anything. :)

It's GREAT... if you have one like MY sister..
we were 4 boys and then a girl, all born within a 6 year span....:o..
This was in the '50's Before TVs came to be in bedrooms:S:P;)B|
Anyway... when Joanne was born... the whole family
was thrilled.....
Here (almost 50 years later) she is still a sweetheart. We boys were NEVER allowed to overly tease her or otherwise make her life difficult like some have noted....( our folks always taught us respect for others, but especially respect for girls/women )
... Even today. she knows that she has FOUR "big Brothers" if she needs anything...( Came in handy a few years ago, when she finally divorced the s.o.b. whom she tolerated for over 20 years....) He was in denial, hassled her after seperation, wouldn't go away, and needed some encouragement B|B| from 4 rather 'fed-up' brothers in law... >:(bing bang boom.... no more problems....
( Italian Brothers !!!):|:| "have Attitude, will travel"
