VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 February 11, 2006 OK, I know nothing about kegs, but I was thinking about getting a keg for the Wigs on Fire party at Elsinore on Saturday night - February the 18th. I don't even drink beer, so I have no idea what I'm doing. I was told to ask what kind of "keg" beer that people prefer. Can anyone give me any help with what else I should be doing? I assume that I need to ask for a friend with a truck's help in bringing it over to the DZ. Also, I was hoping to have people bring more of their own liquor/alcohol, and Gia will be selling her famous jello shots, as well. Edited: Gia's jello profits will be going to the Locks of Love foundation.

Just get whatever's cheap. If it's free and cold, jumpers will drink it. The only real question is one of quantity--kegs come in 16 and 32 gallon sizes. waltappel 1 #4 February 11, 2006 QuoteThanks Walt. This might help you on your planning. I know you are not in Houston, but there is a large discount liquor store chain here that is known for good prices. You can use their website to get an idea of relative prices. Here is a link: http://www.specsliquors.com/ 1. Click on "Browse the Store" on the left-hand side of the window 2. Click on the "Beer" icon 3. Click on the "Keg Beer" link. You'll see a bunch of keg beers and can sort by price, name, or size. edited to add: I just tried that sorting thing. It doesn't work. You can still get good info by looking through the list, though. Also noticed they don't sell full-size (32 gal) kegs. Walt
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #5 February 11, 2006 That's ok, Walt. Thank you so much for your help. It has helped just to see prices, etc.

GiaKrembs 0 #10 February 11, 2006 QuoteI assume that I need to ask for a friend with a truck's help in bringing it over to the DZ. I'm sure I can hit David up for the Truck. He is also the tap master... (just ask Karl about that) There is a store (Food Center or something like that) near Pepe's that has the best deals for good beer, or you can get it at Albertson's. Heiniken requires a special tap, but if you get regular tap the DZ has a couples taps as well. The beer suggestions that Kris mentioned are perfect! edited to add: I just talked to David and he said no problem using his truck. g Raddest ho this side of Jersey #1 - rest in peace brother Beth lost her cherry and I missed it .... you want access to it, but you don't want to break it. Thank you so much, JP. You had a good idea about posting about it. Lately, I always seem to get more PMs from people, than posts. I'll let you know more about that... Edited: Ok, funny people! This is not an invitation for me to get more random PMs. (Although that was funny!) I was just mentioning to JP that I had more help/ideas from random people and friends, but it's in the form of PMs.
 VanillaSkyGirl 6 #16 February 12, 2006 Quoteedited to add: I just talked to David and he said no problem using his truck. Nightingale~ You're awesome! Thanks for all the suggestions. We'll definitely talk more on Saturday. Remember, I'm probably going to be paying for most of it myself, if I don't round up enough money. (I don't even drink beer, but I want to make my friends happy!) Anyway, I'd appreciate as much help as possible from all friends to actively round-up some cash from other friends/jumpers for the keg for that night. Here in Ohio, it is normally a $50-100 deposit for the tap. You may be able to borrow one from a fellow skydiver- that would be your best bet. Also, don't forget a trash can or something filled with ice to keep it cold and lots of cups! For fun, you may want to bring a beer bong or something like that. I went to a so called "party school" so keg buying was a very regular occurrence. A law actually went into effect while I was there that said one house was not allowed to have more than 7 kegs (I think it was 7) at any given time Blue skies and SAFE landings! ~Amanda~
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
