NWFlyer 2 #1 February 14, 2006 It's only been a couple of days, but dare I say it? ... NBC's coverage seems to be better than in past games. ...fewer "fluff pieces." Instead of telling me the heartwarming story of a skiier's mother's battle with breast cancer in a softly-lit vignette piece, the story gets told while we're watching the skiier make his way down the slope, and while we're also commenting on the race. Nice compromise - adds the "human interest" factor without eliminating the "actual coverage" factor. ... acknowledgement of athletes from somewhere other than the U.S. Sure, we're going to be "homers" about our coverage, but it's seemed to me like at least they are showing more of the events than just "here's the American ... now on to another event where we'll only show you the American." It had gotten to the point where if I watched the Olympics, I'd watch the Canadian coverage (which I can get at home in Seattle) but since I'm in Boston this week, I'm having to watch NBC. And it so far is ... not bad."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. Elisha 1 #2 February 14, 2006 I'd love to respond and agree, but I don't have cable anymore and I haven't figured out how to make an antenna work.
