Dreamy Dorini Smoking Martini

Recommended Posts

I was just sitting around at home reading my new copy of The Joy of Mixology by Gary Regan so I mixed up my first Dreamy Dorini Smoking Martini and I'm in heaven. As soon as I'm done posting this I'm going to grab a cigar and put on some teary french love songs or something. Unfortunately I had to do some substitutions but I'm still really happy with it.

The way it should be
2 oz Grey Goose Vodka
1/2 oz Laphraiog 10yr Scotch
2-3 drops Pernod
lemon twist

The way I made it
2 oz Ciroc Vodka
1/2 oz Lagavulin 10yr Scotch
2-3 drops Absinthe
lemon twist

Stir gently of crushed ice for 30 seconds then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Top with a properly loved lemon twist.

Gary Regan also recommends Ardbeg. Wow. That would really be something!

I just tried making one with Ardbeg.

It's really helping with the whole girlfriend-moving-out-two-days-before-Valentine's-day thing. Not that we were that into Hallmark holidays, but all the happy couple romance in the office was driving me up the wall today.

Anyway, back to the drink. I think someone just started projecting pretty colours into the periphery of my visual field, and my tongue has gone numb... it's that good.

Thanks mate :D
