SloStenRacing 0 #6 February 16, 2006 QuoteThey can be that way one in a billion times. You forgot to do it the right way...I fixed it for you and changed your wording to better depict the truth. Around here they must have missed the quota last month and are getting their ass reemed because I can't turn a corner without seeing a cop radaring or with someone pulled over. I hadn't been pulled over in about 2 years and got pulled over for not using my signal to merge into the turn lane but using it before and during my turn. Didn't know that while maintaining proper speed and not impeding traffic you couldn't just get in the turn lane and then use your signal for the actual turn. According to this cop I should start it about 500 feet before while going straight at 50 MPH and keep it on til I am through the turn.
unformed 0 #7 February 16, 2006 I definitely thanked him. I think the reason he let me go was that I'm a relatively clean cut kid (by looks and record .. i crossed my fingers hoping he wouldn't search the car) and got pulled over in a bad neighborhood ... think the only reason he ran my plates was i was stopped at railroad tracks in a ratty car coming right out of the ghetto i've definitely noticed cops are much nicer to you if you're dressed well, say sir, and live in nicer areas of town. oh and honesty when you know you're fucked ....This ad space for sale. You got lucky. An asshole Royal Palm Beach motorcycle cop pulled over my girlfriend for speeding last week -- probably she was doing the normal speed everyone does, and she's a pretty good driver. She had a speeding ticket a few months ago, and the deadline passed for her to send in her ticket with her plea. By the time she did, her license was under suspension. She phoned in and they told her that now that they were in receipt of her ticket/plea, she had a court date, and her license was no longer under suspension. So the cop last week notifies her that she IS on a suspended license, and he confiscates it. I got a call from her at 9a.m. that she needs to be picked up (20 minutes away), because this fuckin' asshole cop would not even let her pull her car off the road to a parking lot. He left her in the right-turn lane of a busy three-lane street (that's 3 in each direction)! And all because some incompetent fuckin' bureaucrat lied to her and gave her a bullshit story that falsely led her to believe her license was considered valid. We took her to a county clerk office, where she found out that she had to pay $60 late fee for the first ticket, plus $10 to make up a replacement license card. If these fuckin' assholes had told her on the phone that she had to pay a late fee and her license would be fine, she'd have done that on the spot back then, before she got a ticket for driving on a suspended license. So instead of a plain old speeding ticket and driving away from that, this dickhead cop made her sit in traffic waiting for me. You just know he would have stopped her again if she'd tried to go the 30 yards to the next parking lot off the main street; and you just know he'd have called a tow-truck to remove her car if she'd left it where he forced her to stay -- in the middle of an active turn lane! --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... goose491 0 #19 February 16, 2006 QuoteYou do know .... he could have taken her to jial? Driving on a suspended license is not a moving violation. It's a misdemeanor. Yeah but if you have not received the notice that your licence is suspended, then all the officer can do when he pulls you over is give you your notice. I had my licence suspended for an unpaid fine too. Well that is, I had paid the ticket via the mail but by the time it got there, they had increased the amount (due to time). They cashed my check and then suspended my license because of a $15 balance. The notice had just been mailed so there was no way I could have received it yet. Anyway, none of the reason matters to the cop. He sees "suspended" when he looks and is provided no info on why. They (government) like to keep it that way so that cops cannot choose to reason with someone who makes a strong case. Anyway, I got pulled over for speeding. The cop came back to the car: "Do you know you are driving without a licence?" I started freaking out and he was like "Okay okay I'm not charging you with that, it only just suspended so you haven't been served your notice. I will serve you your notice... As of now, your licence to drive has been suspended." He actually let me drive home... but he didn't have to. Nice guy, but I happen to think all patrol cops suck big time. Never, ever consent to a search. You may still be searched, but it is far less likely to stand up in court. Also, you are under no obligation to give any information to a cop except your name and address. It is none of his/her business where you are coming from, or where you are going. unformed 0 #23 February 16, 2006 Well Florida they mail you a warning of suspension two weeks before they suspend it. Then a few days before it's suspended, they send you a letter saying it will be suspended on so and so date, but then they still wait a few days to file the suspension so you have time to receive notice. In my case I changed my address and haven't updated it with the driver's license people, so I'm sure at my old address there's a notice that my license is suspended. And I'm not about to tell the cop I've changed my license since that's another ticket. This ad space for sale.
