PhreeZone 20 #1 February 24, 2006 Anyone else out there catch a hospital over billing them? I just caught $125 worth of errors that would have gone unnoticed if I did'nt call. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

NWFlyer 2 #3 February 24, 2006 I've worked in the industry for years. Generally it's not maliciousness, it's incompetence. Even incompetence is too harsh a word, it's just an industry where the systems are antiquated, the processes are inefficent. Many hospitals are lucky to get a bill out, let alone an accurate one."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

Nightingale 0 #5 February 24, 2006 Yep. Irvine Medical just tried to bill me $400 that my insurance had ALREADY PAID. Took me about two hours on the phone with them and the insurance company to get it straightened out.

I am the IT manager for a corporate healthcare company. One of the biggest problems we have are LAZY NURSES who can't be bothered to log in to a computer system or scan a wristband to enter charges on a patient. They get a lot of free stuff. Just come to one of my hosptials I guess!

Its always good to watch your bills and verify with your insurance that they've paid all covered charges.
