SkydiveStMarys 0 #31 February 27, 2006 "Uhhh...no, I actually LIKE reading Bobbi's posts/threads, like this retro one" Aren't you sweet...can I have a discount on clothes now?? No, seriously...can I? Ok here is my take on fashion..... I am 6'1" 1/2, skinny, I have no ass. Those short cut tees and tops drive me crazy!! I just got "into" capris last summer. As a child my pants were always just a little too short, because I was always the tallest in my class...so to go out and on purpose buy pants that were too short...well I just couldn't...but I tried on several and low and behold they look great. On other days....I am just a tee and jeans type of gal...Though I do buy "great" jeans that fit really well and like I said before Gap tees seem to fit the best...they are long waisted. Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx all great stores...you can find a lot of great items.....though I do indugle every now and then on something, as an adult, I can go out and justify the purchase with a "I earned this" type of attitude. Yes, some clothes are really ridiculously expensive...after all they are just material...but who makes it and who wears it, can make or break a fashion designer...and you pay the price at the register for that. I love the Boho look, I also love the "sloppy" look of Abercrombie....but when I go out and need to look great...Bannana Republic and VS (fashion) work well for me. Like I said I like L.A.M.B., yes there prices are ridiculous and I love Stella McCartney too...they are my "treat" purchases. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. VanillaSkyGirl 6 #32 February 27, 2006 QuoteExcept I wouldn't go as far to say couture designers rely heavily on trend forcasting or have similiar themes to that extent. This is why I don't like to talk about design online. I don't like to reveal much about myself now or of my past, but I've designed with and worked for couture (yes, couture) designers from overseas/Europe and from the US over the years, beginning from when I was a design student at Otis Parsons, until now. YES, we/they ALL use fashion/trend forecasting in varying degrees. Trust me... I've been in the industry for a while now, and I only write of or give advice with what I have personal experience. PLFXpert 0 #34 February 27, 2006 Ditto. Except minus the Otis Parsons part. And what you have now, our mild banter on the subject, is also very industry-typical For the record, I agree with *most* of your comments. And also, you are far more invested in the design aspect that I am currently or was. But, my comments also come from knowledge, personal experience. For whatever reason, I get the impression you've been taking my comments personally? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #35 February 27, 2006 There's nothing wrong with Banana Republic (many of my sweaters are from thereAs for discounts... If you lived in L.A., I could invite you to BCBG, among others, warehouse sales, directly in the company's design/warehouse buildings. I may know of a few in LA & N.Y. via Planet Lulu (I think they do NY). PM me, so I can send your e-mail to them to be added onto their invite list. It's for designer sales in LA and sometimes NY designer sales, though you may want to shop online when they have online sales. Bluefly is an online discount site, where the better items go quickly. Prices aren't low, but they are better than full price, of course. There are various other sites. Just google, and you'll find a ton of places. If you enjoy buying with sellers on Ebay, that's also awesome. I know how great Ebay can be for some people. I love buying via Ebay, though I don't usually buy clothes via ebay. Still, I do sometimes sell stuff, and costumers sometimes resell items used on shows via Ebay. Have fun!
