They were about attitudes that affect sexual confidence. In this poll, I have asked the guys their preferences on how much experience they wanted in an SO. What it has turned into is a venue for taking shots at some of the attitudes expressed. I never intended that, but I guess it should not have surprised me. One of the first shots was at the poll itself, referring to it as sexist. I don't think anyone ever asked me why I posted the poll. I'm sure most didn't really care. Here's the reality. The questions in these polls were not from me. They were from a friend--a woman who has had a lack of sexual confidence and wanted to know a bit more about mens' attitudes. I think she found out a lot more than that and not all of it good. To those who freely expressed their honest attitudes, thankyou. Whether I happen to agree with your sexual attitudes or not, thankyou for expressing them. So here's my attitude toward experience and how it relates to sexual confidence. Years ago I had a long-term relationship with a woman who was less experienced. When I told her about some of my experiences, it absolutely destroyed any confidence she may have had in her ability to please me and that has haunted me since. She never had any problem pleasing me at all, but I had put an enormous amount of doubt in her mind that she never got over. I have always wished I had said nothing. That was before the appearance of HIV and Herpes. We live in a time where STDs have forced us to disclose what would, under other circumstances, probably be best left unsaid. Unfortunately, our attitudes toward our parters' sexual past may not have completely caught up with that reality. Personally, all I really want to know is if my partner has a history of high-risk behavior and whether she, in fact, has been either diagnosed with any diseases or determined not to have any. The rest, I think, I would rather not know and I would prefer not to share all the details of my sexual past--especially that which happened more than ten years ago. I don't want either of us to experience the self-doubt that can arise from that knowledge. If anyone wants to bash me for that--fine.
