mailin 0 #26 February 28, 2006 As someone who rescues stray and abandoned siamese cats - thank you The rescue I work with is based out of VA and we've had a HUGE increase in stray siamese in FL I adopted my female from FL (even though as she grew we realized she was not a siamese but a ragdoll), and the volunteers actually drove her from FL to NJ where I picked her up. She's the best! If you come across more stray siamese, please do not hesitate to give the organization I work with a call - they will pick up the cat and find a foster home for it where it can be adopted. A cat I rescued from a drainage pipe near a major river in Providence, RI 2 weeks ago has just been adopted by a nice family in PA - so we've got a quick turn around http://va.siameserescue.org/ Thanks again, enjoy your new little one!! Jen PS. attached are my 'meezers - the dark seal point is my 11 year old TiSan (Tee-San), adopted from a cat mill in MD (a home with 400+ cats) - and Katrina (who turned out to be a ragdoll), from FL who is now 3 or 4.Arianna Frances
waltappel 1 #27 February 28, 2006 Good on you for rescuing cats! They are both really cute! I like the raccoon face on the ragdoll and the dark seal point is absolutely beautiful! Walt

Also, since you're a siamese lover too, we have a HUGE HUGE HUGE siamese rescue in the dallas area (I think its near denton) and they rescue siamese all over the state. http://tx.siameserescue.org JenArianna Frances
mailin 0 #30 February 28, 2006 We've got lots of great foster families in FL - and you may even find one at a local humane society too. Any 'meezer saved is good news, no matter how it happens Thanks for looking! JenArianna Frances
PLFXpert 0 #31 February 28, 2006 Ohhhh, it takes a special person to foster. I thought about it, but I would not be right for the job. I'd have to stop fostering after the first several b/c I'd never give them up. It's selfish, but I just can't imagine them finding a better home than mine once they're here. <----animals are ROYALLY spoiled, as they should be I did take-in a stray once, though, that I ended up giving to the neighbor. The stray was OBVIOUSLY in love with the outdoors. My kitties are indoors, but get to go in the backyard area for a few hours/day. They actually stay there, if you can believe it and dont' jump the fence. It's lizard/pigeon/squirrel central out there so it's lot-o-kitty-fun Our neighbor has this special set-up that was better acclamated for an outdoor kitty. And, I figured, she WAS a big humane-society volunteer AND my neighbor so I could still see kitty all the time She named him Orion and Orion would ALWAYS welcome us when we came home. I wanted to name Orion "Swoop" b/c that's exactly what all the neighborhood birds would do to him He was quite the trouble-maker. But, she moved so I don't get to see Orion anymore. But, I know he has a very good home.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
jlmiracle 7 #32 February 28, 2006 I recently acquired a Miss Kitty that was dumped around my house. She showed up in the rain all sad and pathetic looking so we caved in and gave her a can of tuna. She looked nearly starved. After closer inspection it appears someone decided to give this cat a haircut too. This is my first cat ever. Never thought I could become attached to a cat, but she suckered me right in and I am slightly allergic, but I guess I will just deal with it. Started out leaving her in the garage when it got cold, plus as I was trying to feed her outside some larger cats would come and eat her food. She is now in the house (and bed). Vet said she is about 1-1 1/2 years old. Got her fixed last week. JBe kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. PLFXpert 0 #33 February 28, 2006 Sooo sweet. I hate to admit it. But I'm far less likely to resist a cat than a dog. Oh, who am I kidding, I can't resist eitherPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
