Deland in 1 week - who wants to show me around?

Recommended Posts

Hey Everybody,

I'm getting ready to head down to Deland for a few days. Wondering if anybody wants to show me the ropes.

I come from a small 182 DZ up here in Canada. Not sure how these big 'zones work ;)

Looking for some quick coaching on traffic, landing areas, airspace rules, etc.

If you're not a coach, but wouldn't mind showing me how it all works (getting on loads, manifesting, planning special jumps (i.e. really high pulls), etc) I would really appreciate that too.

Or, if you just want to do a few jumps with a relativly new RW jumper, I'm in too.

Beer that night would be on me of course B|

I'm arriving about 8 AM, wednesday (march 8th). That's not this wed (in 2 days) but the next one. I'd like to get a jump (or 2) in before 10 AM, before I have to go visit an awesome company ;).

So, anybody who wants to help out (and get free beer!) let me know!

Thanks :)

Brant

The staff at Deland is great at helping newbies orient themselves to the dz. After all, everyone wants you to have as safe and fun jumps as you want yourself to have. When you go into the office and let them know that it is your first time at the dz, they should take it from there. If not, ask! Also let them know if you want to jump with someone, they might be able to hook you up.

I'm not available during the week because of work, but I hope you'll still have a good time. :)

Sweet B|

That's good to know. :)
If any DZ.com'ers are going to be there that week, Perhaps we can get together, and do a few jumps. (or, perhaps just drink a few beer - whatever B| )

I'll be the fat big-boned Canadian guy, trying to get his odd-looking home-made altimeter to work properly ;)

I wonder if a photo of your face might help people pick you out a little easier. ;)

Seriously, have a great time at Deland - I just visited there for the first time a few weeks ago and found everyone to be very friendly. Big airport with lots of good outs on the airport property, and I'm sure you'll get a great orientation from the team there. :)

Plllllease let me know next time you're down.

I'm trying to kill all the birds with one stone:D

If everyone could just meet at Deland, let me know the weekend, and I'll be there.

Thank you:P

That's about as much organizing of an event that you'll get out of me:D

Ooooo, OOooo, Ooooooo

That timing is PERFECT.

OK, everybody else, please take note...sometime late March/Early April.

Yey!

You can all meet my hunny that I speak of, but has only had, I think, two posts ever "BillyZ".

He's not really into computers:D

Hoping late March/early April. Once I get my schedule for my new project I should be able to plan my "company paid excursions to exotic locations in lieu of flying me home for the weekend" schedule.

LOL...I have a friend who does that too! Sometimes, it's actually cheaper for her to tack on the weekend instead of fly home on a Friday, so her company doesn't mind. Lucky you that it works out for you too!

Yep, and when I'm working on the east coast/midwest, it's also easier for me to fly somewhere else than all the way back to Seattle. It's one of the perks of heavy business travel (not to mention the frequent flyer miles).
