davedlg 0 #1 March 2, 2006 Over the weekend my cell phone was accidently dropped into a large container of beer. It remained in the beer for several minutes before we got it out. I immedatly took the battery off and let the phone dry overnight. When I put the battery back on in the morning, the phone didn't work at all. Resigned that I had destroyed my phone, I decided to try something that I heard about a while back: I soaked the phone for several hours in distilled water, let it dry for 24 hours, and tried it again. It worked!! The phone works just fine now. I was extremely skectipal that this would actually work, but it really did work. I have actually heard of people doing this with laptop computers as well. NWFlyer 2 #2 March 2, 2006 Okay, so let me get this straight. It stayed in the container of beer for several minutes. This implies that you were attempting to get the phone out of the beer *without* sacrificing the beer. Therefore beer > phone. WELL DONE! Like a true skydiver. sundevil777 102 #3 March 2, 2006 Maybe it was in the beer for a long time because he didn't realize that it was in the beer. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Unfortunatly, a large quantity of beer ended up being sacrificed anyway.

popsjumper 2 #7 March 2, 2006 Simple...the phone was drunk with a hangover and the water helped clear the fogginess....I do it every weekend. My reality and yours are quite different. freefallfreak 0 #10 March 2, 2006 Fairly normal procedure. Regular water contains impurities. It isn't the water that shorts out and destroys the phone. It's the impurities in the water that conducts electric impulses. Distilled water doesn't have that property and washes away the bad stuff. I have a water cooled computer and use distilled water in it to keep the electronics safe in case of a spill. That way the computer doesn't get damaged in case something happens and the water spills inside it. TripleF "Upon seeing the shadow of a pigeon, one must resist the urge to look up."
