Imagine my surprise when the ONLY guy (or girl for that matter, no-one was there during the week when I was, literally, me, my instructor and a spacious plane) at the DZ when I was going through my AFF, who was also going through his AFF, has now written and done video/photo for Parachutist! Just wanted to say congrats. You'll be happy to know, I showed it to Billy first thing when he got home I am SO happy for you!!! I don't know why...ha...I just am excited about it. I think b/c I remember how dedicated you are/were and hard you worked at it when you started...and now . Ha! I think b/c I remember how dedicated you are/were and hard you worked at it when you started...and now . Ha! yea, Still dedicated. I STILL bring GROUPS out to the Dropzone on a regular occasion(once each month). and I still talk about skydiving like it was something I enjoy...go figure, eh? PLFXpert 0 #5 February 28, 2006 Holy cow. Get out...water training? That was 5 years ago.....nooooooo, you've seen us since. I remember Billy and I coming out to Palatka a few times so Billy could video for you while you were doing some instructor jumps with Billy Weber. I think you were at a few Skydive Daytona boogies, too, weren't you? But, even that was STILL a LOOOOOONG time ago I was referring to this month's Parachutist. It's a two-pager somewhere in the middle written & photographed by you Don't worry about the hooks...I only hook-it when I'm at 2 grand Billy always encourages me to really fly & play with my canopy and do different things w/ the risers, etc. up high. I do, but SHEESH how much arm strength does he think I have? Flying with the risers is HARD, I'm not going to lie Plus, I was just remembering why I chose the name "PLFXpert" when I first registered back in 2000 for DZ.com (I know it says 2001 but that's b/c Sangiro updated or something back then that reset us all). It was b/c, I was literally sit-flying, stand-flying, starting to learn head-down in freefall, and yet STILL had trouble standing on two feet when I landed That was never my strong suit. Somehow, though, I always managed when I landed on the taxiway. Maybe I just needed a little inspiration---afterall, I WAS really good at the PLF I think FINALLY around jump 40ish I started landing on my feet regularly and in the peas. I'll tell Billy you said what-upPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
PLFXpert 0 #6 February 28, 2006 Oh, P.S. to everyone else...this thread can also be about the 2005 death/incidents. That's really why I actually read this issue. Sometimes I skim through and read previous issues here & there, but not regularly. But, I think it's important to learn from other people's mistakes and go over in your head and on the ground what you would do in those situations. Luckily, I have the "canopy-master" to ask. I like to tell him what I would do and have him yey or ney it (always yeys, but sometimes adds a few things to think about). Anywho, the one, though that troubled me was the tandem student that "slipped out of his harness"Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
jtval 0 #7 March 1, 2006 you mean MARCH issue? If so than I have been printed 3 times jan 05, dec 05 and mar 06 yea I did remember the palakta trips but I thought that was before the water training...but now that I think of it it was ALL daytona students. i remember you asking about my tattoo. you asked if I always had it ( or something) and I said its actually a birth mark, so yes, i have ( or something close to that) I was expecting a nother article to be printed in march's issue, so are you telling me, it was?My photos My Videos
