I have a germaphobic friend that was really convinced in college, she had a tapeworm She won't eat sushi, either I am by no means germaphobic, but as I mentioned, I've had plenty of exposure to raw fish. (I also know that one day the raw clams and oysters could get me in a lot worse trouble.) I guess it's the difference between what you know is there, based on what you read, and what you've actually seen with your own two eyes. Speaking of germs, I was a really bad mom--I used to let Beck put rocks in her mouth (and other things, although I drew the line at cigarette butts). I'm also the sort of person who can pull maggots out of a raccoon with one hand and eat gummy worms with the other. I never said that I'm not a little weird. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

You should explain to her that it is by protecting ourselves from germs that we make ourselves sick. "Everybody's gotta eat a peck of dirt before they die." If you don't build up a resistance to germs (by exposure), it weakens the immune system. Down with antibacterial everything. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
PLFXpert 0 #29 March 3, 2006 I love you, RL! I've tried the "healthy" germs arguement, the "need to expose youself" arguement, etc. She's still all What about Bob? about everything, though. But, I love her just the same. I've noticed my friends are all smart & a little crazy at the same time. She graduated top of her class in a Masters in Buisness, and she's a complete stubborn germaphobic freak at the same time I can't help myself....I find crazy interestingPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
