Bob Hoover has quite a resume

Has the FAA given him his medical back yet? Or is he still flying in AUS?

You may have seen some of this from fandego:ph34r::D:ph34r::D but not from inside the cockpit.
The man's flying skills and energy management are something special to watch.

Bob Hoover is the kind of pilot that if you were in a jump plane with him flying you would be missing out by actually jumping...the Guy is a true Pilot's Pilot

Not to many people know about that situation. That is one of the reasons why I despise the FAA.

I hope you despise only the bad part. i work for the FAA and am not happy about what *some* people did with regard to Bob.
Don't hate the playa, hate the game.

Bob hung it up I heard...... I last saw his routine at the 1998 Oshkosh show.

He left the US and started flying in Australia. I don't know if he still is or not.

What happened?

I don't know the details...Im sure someone will fill them in.

Hoover lost his medical due to something (I think it was medication, but I don't recall). He worked with the FAA to tey and get it cleared up, but they never gave it back. So he started doing shows with a Co-pilot to try and work around the medical issue. Then the FAA got pissed and told him he could not do that since I think it was "Duel Instruction" is not allowed at airshows.

So Hoover left the states and went to Australia. AFAIK, he is still doing shows around the world, but just not in the US.
