Sebazz1 2 #1 March 8, 2006 I mean you gotta be blind if you have not seen some of the articles about the new book coming out re: Mr. Steroid Cocktail pounding cattle muscle building shootin etc..... Delusional fans that where clinging to some sort of fantasy that the dood was not juicin have to give it up now right? I am a life long Giants fan and I soooo hope he dissappears... please please please go away! Oh and let me do a demo into Pac Bell Park, thank you and good night! murrays 0 #2 March 9, 2006 I'm disgusted by Bonds' cheating and even more disgusted by his outrageous ego and abusive manner to everybody involved with him. He's a complete ass. I hope Selig does something gutsy and suspends him before he breaks Ruth and Aaron's home runs records. He's a cheat and doesn't deserve to be the all-time home run king.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

JohnnyD 0 #5 March 9, 2006 This just in: Barry Bonds on steroids. Who'd a guessed? MLB has been turning a blind eye for so long I just gave up on baseball. My bold prediction is that exactly nothing will happen. He has never tested positive for a _banned_ substance, so what can they really do? Baseball sucks. AggieDave 6 #6 March 9, 2006 You know, if he was juicing (don't know, haven't really kept up) whats sad is I personally know guys that have more muscle mass and strength then he does and its 100% natural. Through a hard diet and hard work. On the flip side, I've seen guys at the gym that are complete freaks with competition sized and lean bodies that are definately NOT natural. Which is completely worthless. When they have a heart attack at 35 years old and their kidneys blow out at 38, they won't have much of a body or a life left. Besides the obvious legal rammifications, the health disaster that juicing leaves just isn't worth it. Especially when people can put on good size and strength with out it. At the peak of my weight lifting I was benching 320lbs and deadlifting 450lbs, squatting about 500lbs for reps. No juice, just really hard workouts and eating like a horse. I still couldn't hit a home run, though. Infact, I really can't hit a baseball...I used to strike out in t-ball as a little kid, too. Haven't been in the gym seriously in 2 years, so now I'm slowly working my way back to some strength (stuck on the stupid 250lbs bench).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Hambone 0 #9 March 9, 2006 Honestly we all knew that Bonds was juicing, i mean his production at the plate jumped significantly not tto mention he became a hulking enourmous man. I mean his forearms are as big as my thighs. Its like that guy in the program. Bonds is a fraud, and they should let pete rose in the hall...there i said it.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama
thegreekone 0 #10 March 9, 2006 the pictures of him just coming into the league are mind boggling; he was RAIL thin, almost scrawny. They posted some side by sides on ESPN and I can honestly say I was speechless. I am not sure where to even start? Taking steroids is just so fundamentally wrong, so I will put that aside. What leaves a sour taste in my mouth are the stories of entitlement and reverse racism. I heard he told a young white kid that he doesn't SIGN for "rich white kids". Stories about his disregard for teammates, pushing people around. The whole Jeff Kent debacle happened because he was tired of Bonds' shit. I mean, who could blame him? Finally, what really bugs me is that he is so undeniably great, he doesn't need the steroids. Two years ago, while chasing the record, he would get one or two chnaces (pitches, not at bats) to just get a hit and he would park one. Bonds the player is amazing, the man is totally bankrupt. The Rose/Bonds question is interesting. I would have to go with Rose getting in as well. The man played his heart out, hustled old school (who EVER does THAT anymore), and nobody can ever take that away from him. Now, as a person, well, we all know how that turned out. I just hope he has gotten some help.
Deuce 1 #11 March 9, 2006 It really doesn't bug me. I guess because growing up we had the steroid olympics every four years, with the Soviet-bloc freakish weightlifters etc. What was that clean-and-jerk champion's name? I still remember the bar being bent almost to his shoulders. I just don't see what the big whoop is all about. I bet the Babe used speed or drank a lot of cocaine-fueled Coca-cola in his day, or used laudenum. He is reported to be a heck of a booze abuser with poor impulse control. Heck, tandem masters have an unfair advantage when they have an O2 system on the plane. I bet it really helps with hangovers! Athletes at that level use every advantage they can get, from insulting the other player's mom to using human growth hormone and using Motrin along the way. Bleh. I think it's a manufactured controversy.

Bonds as a player is a pleasure to watch he is everything we have ever wanted in a baseball player. As a person he fails miserably, but as a player he has no equal, before the steriod use he was an outstanding defensive player and was still a great hitter, the "roids" just pushed him to the next level. Steriods are the easy way out, but the price you pay is severe, for instance why do you think that bonds has not been able to play a whole season and an injury that they origionally thought he would come back from at the begining of last season he is still fighting. Its the price you pay.Yeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama

Sebazz1 2 #14 March 9, 2006 Geez now I am not sure what to think. I like the point about it being awesome to see him play, be involved in the game and on the field yet off of the field he is portrayed as this horrible villain. I love my Giants and I don't ahte Barry Bonds but... I also know he's not the only one doing roids or has ever yet he seems to be bearing more finger pointing than anyone else. But at the same time that's what you get when have such mad #'s... It's going to be weird watching him play this year and not have these thoughts in your head. Whether it's his fault or the media's it just kinda ruines the whole experince. I'll never stop hating the Dodgers though
Deuce 1 #15 March 9, 2006 He won't be able to use juice or HGH any more. Last year me and Hooknswoop and his Ms and BigBen went out to PacBell and watched him put one in the water. No juice last year either. When you watch him hit homers this year, you'll know they are un-juiced ones. Or not, An interesting issue here is that substances have to be identified before the can be made illegal. Extasy was like that in the beginning. It was a molecule that got people high, but it wasn't cocaine. It wasn't illegal until it was placed on the books as illegal. I think that's what the "cream" and the "clear" were like. New subtances that hadn't been made illegal yet. I don't think Bonds was lying when he said he wasn't using "steroids" "back then". Human growth hormone isn't a steroid, and the cream and the clear weren't specifically classified as steroids yet when he used them. It's hair splitting, but the man gets paid to perform, and perform he did. It's a game. People work their advantages.

Taylor610 0 #17 March 10, 2006 That was funny as anything I've read in awhile! As far as Bonds not doing anything illegal, I guess it is a matter of whether you are a Bonds fan or not. He can make all of the explainations he wants, he was jealous of McGuire (juiced too IMHO), and the so called records are as fradulent as he is. Now however that he is being watched, notice how high his injury rate and inability to recover are. And yes, that is just IMHO. I do believe that MLB turned their heads to a lot of things, just to get the fans in the stands...
Deuce 1 #18 March 10, 2006 Anybody have a link to the before and after photos everybody is referring to?
JohnnyD 0 #19 March 10, 2006 QuoteAnybody have a link to the before and after photos everybody is referring to? Don't have time to scour for it right now, but I'll keep it in mind. Barry Bones was a 5-tool guy when he came up. Great BA, didn't strike out, hit opposite field and also stole a lot of bases. He was fast. Somehow, after playing for about 12 years, he suddenly put on 30 lbs of muscle in one off season. In his 30s no less, when all the guys around him are getting softer, slower, and weaker (older), somehow Bones packs on 30 lbs and starts hitting the equivalent of 3 previous years worth of homers every year. Roided up? Duh. Edit: Not to mention his personal trainer is going to prison for distribution of steroids and the place he worked was BALCO, whose founder has now admitted he was giving Bones steroids - the cream and the clear. Bones admitted taking them too. His defense was he thought it was flaxseed oil.
