pa2themd 0 #1 February 23, 2006 Hey guys, They started building South Africa's first swoop pond at the Johannesburg Skydiving Club. Herewith a report from one of the organisers: Beverly.......... Oh my! What an awesome day it was (As you can see by the massive grin of our Grounds Manager Eugene in the Pic). We broke ground for the start of the Swoop Pond. This is so exciting guys, it will look like a different place when you visit each weekend. I will be sending updates as to the progress each week, so watch this space! We are still in need of your donations, so please don’t be shy! All donations are welcome! Well done guys, the effort and work being put into this project is phenominal!!! There will always be those adverse to change .. but all things change and we must adapt and prosper!!!! Beverly 1 #7 March 9, 2006 Hey, I must apologise for not posting more updates, it has been relatively hectic around here! Yes, the pond is under construction, yes there has been an unusually high rainfall and yes our baby dozer is getting stuck in the mud on a regular basis!! But we are faring well in terms of the construction. The pond will be taking longer than anticipated due to the weather issues that arose, but we are very happy with the progress so far. We are still in need of funds for the pond. It is unbelievable what the groundwork and plastics are costing. Being in a mining area and a dolomite rich area, we have to line the entire pond, so it has turned into quite an expensive exercise and a HUGE learning curve for everyone. Luckily our CI is an engineer. He is overseeing most of the construction and ensuring we follow all the regulations for the council. I will def get some more pics this weekend and post the progress. Beverly 1 #11 March 10, 2006 Well Steve, I am not sure why I did not ship you out ages ago!! Yeah, they are expensive. so we are frantically fundraising since the club is still a club and not a privately owned business. We will have to bring you all around to see the pond and play in the water... I think true friendship is under-rated Twitter: @Dreamskygirlsa
metalslug 36 #12 March 10, 2006 Get a business loan to finance the pond and span a crossbeam & tollbooth over it. The beam will open to allow them to complete the swoop ...if they have fast fingers and exact change.
