Silly Things Parents Do

Recommended Posts

My widowed mother had a stroke this week. I spent the weekend going through her papers.

Sometimes the post office 'forgets' to cancel a stamp on an envelope. You can take the stamp off and glue it onto another envelope to reuse... free postage!

Apparently, my mother has been faithfully saving these uncancelled stamps for years. There was an envelope filled with them on her dining room table. Some of them with denominations as low as 27 cents.

Why didn't she reuse them? I found that to be poignant.

Have your parents done silly things too?
What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy

You mean like watering down our milk, ketchup, and Tang(R)? :|

I guess those things weren't silly though, they were survival. And my mama is a survivor. B|

My dad left my old bedroom intact until 5 years after I had moved out. I would come home for a visit and give him shit for it. It really meant alot to me that he cared too much to get rid of my stuff though.

My wifes grandmother would hide things around the house, when she was finally unble to cope for herself she was put into care and my wife went to clean her house, she found stashes of wine all over the house in all conceivable places, also money was hiden everywhere, not big amounts, all up they found about $1100, hidden in about $20 lots:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:
