livendive 8 #1 March 21, 2006 I don't think any of us knows everything that will make us happy, and perhaps learning new things that make us happy is better than having the things that make us happy, but I've got a wierd thought bouncing around my head (shocker! ) Imagine you could have everything you want in life, even the things you don't know you want, but only for some short period of time. Everything would be exactly what makes you most happy in every aspect of your life, including work (or the lack thereof), family, romance, recreation, etc. The thing is that you'd only be able to have that life for awhile...let's say one year. After that year was up, you could never have it all again. Would you want to know what you're missing? Would the pleasure of that one year be worth spending the rest of your life knowing you'll never be that happy again? Is ignorance bliss or would the memories be worth the sense of loss? chaoskitty 0 #4 March 21, 2006 Just sounds like life to me. Sometimes you have things, people, experiences.. in your life that make you happy but only last a while. I wouldn't change that, even if I'll never have it again.

scaryshari 0 #6 March 21, 2006 Pretty neat thought. I would be curious as to how much it would change me...BUT, i think i'd be better off just being single, poor, and single and ... oh wait...i'd like the tunnel time..yeah, that's the ticket .i'd spend a year in the tunnel...yup...that's it. Then the next year I could join Fire and help them get a 50. is

NtheSeaOrSky 0 #8 March 21, 2006 Wow, did you hit a tender spot for me. A month or two ago, my answer would have been a resounding NO, but now that the pain and shock have worn off (or maybe I am just more numb). I wouldn't have traded that time - albiet too short - for ANYTHING in this world. Yes life feels lacking without that degree of happiness, but strangely now, even without it, is more fulfilled. .Life is not fair and there are no guarantees... Is ignorance bliss or would the memories be worth the sense of loss? Blues, Dave Yes. Memories and knowledge can be bitter sweet and painful, but to know the purity of the emotion awakens the spirit. Best quote was from City of Angels by Seth: I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. Carpediem 0 #11 March 21, 2006 Reminds me of one my fav quotes... "Even if you live just one day with a clear understanding of what life is, the value of that one day is equal to many, many years of living without awareness" -Dogen Zenji I'd take it. It would REALLY suck when it was gone, but love the time ya had and spend yer life enjoying what you can. Mind you, i'm a pretty simple guy... women, beer, parachutes, snowboard, and... food n shealter. Those who do, can't explain. Those who don't, can't understand. bobsled92 0 #12 March 21, 2006 I had it all. Free Time, World Travel, money..lots of money small collection of sports cars, bikes and a big house. I miss all that but, now just strive towards security and a simpler life. Glad I had it all but, know that's not what I REALLY need to make me happy. I'll never strive to a point of sacrifice for more than my needs and moderate pleasures. I know EXactly what I'm missing.....I don't miss it at the price it cost me. (nor did golfing at My Country feel better than at the public courses HA!) -Grant_______________________________ If I could be a Super Hero, I chose to be: "GRANT-A-CLAUS". and work 365 days a Year. http://www.hangout.no/speednews/
