jumpergirl 0 #1 March 22, 2006 I apologize for the length... [rant] So my boss had me researching prices for 10 Q-Link pendants that she wants for gifts for her family. I started on eBay, as she asked, and sent out several emails asking the questions she had. One guy replied with prices but didn't answer all of my questions. Monday I sent another email: Quote Earlier this month you quoted me $88 for 10 black Q-Link pendants. I don't know if I asked if they come with a cord or a chain. Do you take credit cards over the phone? I'm researching this for my boss and she does not have a PayPal account. He replied today with this: Quote 10 black q link pendants sent insure would be $88.99 plus shipping. Total would be $938.90. I will send an invoice to pay by credit card. Then the a$$ sent me an invoice. At what point did I ASK for an invoice!? I replied and said, "Thanks for the information but I was not asking for an invoice. Please do what you need to cancel/void/delete that invoice, please." Am I wrong to be irritated about this? Is he correct to assume that because I was asking questions I would purchase from him? Based on a previous email he seems a little "pushy." The day after he replied to my 1st email he sent another and said, "So is your boss interested?" [/rant] Some people!! NWFlyer 2 #2 March 22, 2006 Tell him he can send you all the invoices he wants, and you'll recycle them immediately as you have not committed to making a purchase from him. He's being aggressive, hoping you'll bite. Don't. Problem solved. Especially if that *wasn't* a typo and he's really charging 10 times the value of the product for shipping. jumpergirl 0 #3 March 22, 2006 He sent me an invoice through PayPal. Actually, his prices are correct. I was looking for 10 at $88.99 ($889.90) so that's correct, but another $49 for shipping?! They are small pendants that shouldn't be that expensive even if they are insured. Weird guy
NWFlyer 2 #4 March 22, 2006 Oh, it wasn't clear that they were *each* $88.99. Ignore the invoice and/or see if Paypal has some sort of dispute mechanism.
jumpergirl 0 #5 March 22, 2006 You're right. If you didn't know beforehand, it does look very wrong! LOL
narcimund 0 #6 March 22, 2006 Actually, as someone who's sold a lot of stuff online I can understand where he's coming from. While I've never done this it has happened to me. It's infuriating after a while when 10 (or 100) people all ask the same slow series of questions when you know you could speed it up by answering the question that you know usually comes next. An invoice doesn't cost him anything and doesn't obligate you. It just saves everyone a back-and-forth email if you DO choose to buy something. If you don't, no bother to anyone. jumpergirl 0 #8 March 22, 2006 I sell alot on eBay as well and this still irritated me. I can totally relate to having to answer the same question over and over, and that's why I always post the question on the listing. I asked this guy questions and he only answered some of them. (By mentioning that I wasn't sure if I had asked something, I was taking the blame even though I KNOW I asked previously.) What I don't like is the assumption and assertiveness with which he replied. I realize invoices through Paypal don't cost anyone anything, but still...
narcimund 0 #9 March 22, 2006 QuoteSales would be so much easier without all those irritating customers! I suppose. My point was different. Sales would be easier if customers would let the salesman improve the process. No, I don't mean anything manipulative or nefarious. I mean actually do things that speed up the same results. Real world situation: Email #1 (12:00): "Mr. Seller, is the item still available?" Email #1b (12:04: "Mr. Buyer, yes is it." Email #2 (1:15): "Oh, good. Well could you tell me if it comes in red?" Email #2b (1:21): "Yes, Mr. Buyer, it comes in Red." Email #3 (2:05): "I like red. Could I come see it?" Email #3b (2:09): "Yes, you can come see it." Email #4 (4:30): "Great. Where are you located?" Email #4b (4:40): "1234 Main street." Email #5 (5:48): "When can I come by?" Email #5b (5:55): "I'm going home in 5 minutes. Come by tomorrow." Result: Lost sale and a whole day of stupid, slow, pointless emails. -- Improved situation: Email #1 (12:00): "Mr. Seller, is the item still available?" Email #1b (12:04): "Mr. Buyer, yes it is. It comes in red, blue, or yellow. You can come see it any time before 6pm if you like. I'm at 1234 Main street." Result: Customer gets all the information in 4 minutes instead of 6 hours. They can come by and buy the item. Or maybe they feel this is pushy and get mad. First Class Citizen Twice Over

Or maybe they feel this is pushy and get mad.*** I have bought and sold online. The best way to prevent having to ask/answer questions is for the seller to answer every possible question in the add before it is asked. As the seller, it might be obvious what is included by a picture. But also telling colors available, options, and what is not included will save all involved a lot of repeatedly answered questions. If you sell stock items, if a question is asked, modify your next add to cover the answer. I have had difficult dealings with sellers as well. Now I pass by adds that don't provide enough info up front.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

mark 107 #14 March 23, 2006 QuoteQ-Link pendants Couldn't you just dowse for better prices and availability? Oh. Wait a minute. I can feel the spirits gathering. I sense an "R" or is it an "M"?
