RhondaLea 4 #1 March 12, 2006 I'm ready to shoot myself. No worries, though, because at the present time, I don't own a gun. I don't want to pack. I hate it. So I'm doing all the peripheral mishegoss instead, and every time I look up from the monitor, I see something else that needs attention. I have until next weekend to accomplish everything, and I have to work all week next week. And Beck is here. I'm seriously considering taking my little shovel, digging a hole in the back yard and burying myself. The only thing stopping me is that digging a hole deep enough is probably as much work as packing. Other than that, life is ducky. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
NWFlyer 2 #2 March 12, 2006 Aww, suck it up, cupcake, step away from the keyboard, and get to work. How's that for some tough love? Moving sucks, no matter how you cut it, and despite thinking every time that I'm going to get my shit together early, I inevitably find myself desperately and haphazardly shoving things in boxes into the wee hours of the morning before the appointed day."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Lindercles 0 #13 March 13, 2006 Am I the only one who actually sort of likes moving? Maybe it stems from the fact that I've never lived in one place for longer than 4 years, maybe I'm just a masochist, but I actually enjoy the process of cleansing old crap I don't need and then arranging a new space. GiaKrembs 0 #16 March 13, 2006 Moving does suck, and finding the time to do it all sucks even more... Last fall I was commuting at least 5 hours a day to and from work, working 12-13 hour days, then getting home and trying to find time to pack. I did this for almost 2 months straight. 4 days before the move, I blew my lower back out! I thought there was a hell and I was living in it!!! Feel for ya! Make sure you take time to pamper yourself. SkydiveStMarys 0 #20 March 13, 2006 Are you??!! Really!!!???? I am so so sorry. This could be the reason for your "laziness" in packing...the dread of moving back to the armpit of the US. RhondaLea 4 #21 March 14, 2006 I am grateful to all of you--support givers and wiseguys alike (because smart remarks are support of a sort, at least most of the time)--for the encouragement. Yes, there is a hole already dug on the side of the house, and it's looking good right now. Just kidding. I've gotten a lot done (not packing, but other stuff--and the little gecko has saved me $722/year on my car insurance , so I've been walking around for two days doing free advertising for GEICO ), and I'm feeling pretty good right now. The next question is: after I make it back to New Jersey, what do I do? Do I stay there? Do I move elsewhere? Do I keep doing the work in which I have expertise or do I find something new and different? This is something of a crisis, but it's a good crisis. I just don't know which direction to pick. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
