yamtx73 0 #1 March 24, 2006 The things you see when you least expect them... Took the day off work today and went out to the dz so I could learn how to pack and was amazed to see this setting outside the hangar. Airglades Airport (Clewiston, Fl) was used during WWII to train British pilots using aircraft just like this. The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers... JohnRich 4 #2 March 24, 2006 What's with the kangaroo on the side? Must be an Australian plane?
stitch 0 #3 March 24, 2006 Since that plane has Austrialian markings,I wonder if they trained Aussies too."No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"
pilotdave 0 #4 March 24, 2006 That's an interesting one... I was a little confused cause it's an australian paint job and says Wirraway on it, but it didn't look right to me and wouldn't have trained any british pilots AFAIK. Turns out to be the canadian version of the T-6, rebuilt as a wirraway (australian licensed version) replica. Dave
yamtx73 0 #5 March 24, 2006 I don't know if this particular plane was actually used there for training purposes or not, the pilot flew in to drop off his emergency rigs for repacking while on his way to the air show in Punta Gorda, Fl next weekend. I didn't catch the passenger/co-pilot's name but he did mention flying a Pitts at the WFFC the past several years. They'll be back Wednesday to pick them up in a Hawker Sea Fury, too bad I won't be there to get photos of that one...The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers...
