I am not really experienced with discussion forums. Dropzone.com is the first one I ever got involved with and is the only one I participate in. Is having another websight really beneficial? I would think that if there is a shortcoming with the existing sight (I am not aware of any) why would one not simply take this up with sight administrators? Anyway, again I am really more of an outsider here who is relatively new, but it seems that there will be a lot of overlap betwen the two sights (this is not an attack on the new sight, it may very well be an excellent sight). Can anyone enlighten me as to the pro's vs con's of having two sights? I may very well be missing the obvious here and I apologise in advance if that is the case.

Nope, but I went ahead and signed up. Skydiving Forums sent me a birthday greeting, which I thought was kinda cool. Who knows what this one will do?

It'll be interesting to see just how many message boards this community can actually support without collapsing in on itself.

To me, it's the same as Burger King vs. McDonald's. It's just what you prefer. After all, we do have these jerky Mods over here. I'm sure the other ones are much cooler than we are.

Actually skydivingforums.com has been around over a year... they just revamped their site and made about a 3rd or 4th attempt to really get it going. Just never really caught on.

I'm guessing the same thing will happen to skydiving-school.com.

Dz.com was never the first or only skydiving forum, but it's got a huge amount of activity and a great moderation system (seriously, I'm not just trying to redeem myself). Un- or under-moderated forums just don't work. Looks to me like skydiving-school.com has way too many forums for a brand new site.

I doubt dropzone.com has much to worry about.

BTW, I was offered a moderatorship over at another skydiving forum... Clearly those guys have no taste in moderators! I'd be the biggest jerk of them all. I'd ban people for typing in all caps or asking dumb questions. Then I'd ban everyone that replies with "do a search." I'd pretty much ban everyone.
