Landing on the golf course

Recommended Posts

PENINA, Portugal, March 30 (Reuters) - A group of skydivers startled players at the Portuguese Open on Thursday, dropping in to retrieve a stray parachute.

The first round was interrupted briefly after the parachute fluttered down to land on the fifth fairway at Penina where 2004 European rookie of the year and 2004 PGA champion Scott Drummond and fellow Britons David Park and Robert Coles were playing.

The parachute had been jettisoned by a skydiver, who landed safely at a nearby airfield using a reserve chute.

Five of his colleagues then landed on the course to retrieve the parachute, watched by the bemused players.

Tournament official Paul Carrigill said: "The players were just taken a bit by surprise but then got on with play. The skydivers were extremely apologetic."

Would it be bad to drop a bunch of ping pong balls or marshmallows while flying over a golf course ? I see an environmental issue with both of them but hey, anything to cheer up a golfer.:D
