racer42 0 #28 March 29, 2006 40 is nothing. It's turning 30 that's the freak out. I've been forty for awhile now. Nothin to it. Besides 50 is the new 30. Shotgun 1 #29 March 29, 2006 My husband turns 40 this year too... We don't usually celebrate birthdays and stuff like that, but I would like to do something special for his 40th... Something raunchy. And I just realized that I will be turning 35 this year... Gosh, I feel old.

CanuckInUSA 0 #31 March 29, 2006 I'm 42 and turning 40 didn't freak me out one bit. In fact I'm enjoying my 40s so far. My life started in October of 1963 and for others their lives started either sooner or later than mine. We're all given one chance here and it doesn't matter when it started only that it did. And for the younger generation who like to judge those older than themselves, remember (assuming that you survive) that you will be in our shoes before you know it. Getting older is better than the alternative of being dead. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Aw hell, keep doin' what you're doin'. It's more fun than discussing the aging process! Besides... it's just another day. Get him a present and give it to him over a nice dinner for two. LisaM 0 #34 March 29, 2006 My husband hates parties...I wwas threatened severely if I threw him a party. But his 40th just came and went. My 30th was shocking for me...he threw me a huge surprise party (flew my folks down and everything)..... I don't think I"ll handle 40 well.... heck..... Muenkel 0 #35 March 29, 2006 I honestly have no recollection of my 40th birthday. I remember the week before, celebrating in Nashville. It has something to do with my brain being in a state of mush at the time. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
steveorino 7 #36 March 29, 2006 40s was good, 50s -- even better! Video tape his old friends fromHS or college (or have them send in a video) Have a few "ham" friends act out his life as you read it. I did this for my wife and it was a hoot. We had about 70+ people there. We were dying laughing. steveOrino
yamtx73 0 #37 March 29, 2006 QuoteIs it a "happy" thing? Just another birthday? Would you want to celebrate it or just let it go? Does it weird you guys out? Is it a milestone? SOs birthday is coming up and I don't know what I should do for him....take him away for the weekend...throw a huge bash? Any suggestions? boinky 0 #38 March 29, 2006 For Me? It's just a number too. But I LOVE parties, presents and being made over. For You, I'm a giver. What's that phrase of yours? Oh yeah......"Selfish Altruism." I just wanted to see you smile. I enjoyed the planning and subsequent surprise of attempting to make your 40'th something to remember. But if you so desire, I won't make a big to-do again.Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? boinky 0 #39 March 29, 2006 When I turned 40, I requested a party at our home. My ex kept swearing he wasn't going to do it, but in the end, I got it.....complete with a stripper dressed in a military outfit. Stripper wasn't very good, but the party and friends were GREAT!!!Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? SkydiveStMarys 0 #43 March 29, 2006 Aaaah you both are just babies!! I'll be 39 in September. I honestly don't feel my age...and I still get carded...used to piss me off when I was younger, now when they ask for my card...I always ask them to tell what age they think I am. They never suspect that I am almost 40. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.

SkydiveStMarys 0 #45 March 29, 2006 I don't think he really has a problem turning 40...the number thing doesn't bother him...its more of how he feels when Saturday morning rolls around...He has a very, very physical job....He works alot in the outdoors...with heavy objects...so between the heat and lifting he is really sore. He has mentioned a few times that he "feels" old because of what type of work he does. But boy! Does he have great leg AND arm muscles! Bobbi BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. Shotgun 1 #48 March 30, 2006 Hey, my 35th birthday's in June too, so we can definitely be old together. And Rich's raunchy 40th is in September, so I guess I have plenty of time to plan for that. ROK 0 #49 March 30, 2006 Forty is tough for me. I really started analysing my life and discovered that the big house, tons of toys, and great job just don't mean as much. It's like I achieved my goals and still felt empty. I went through a period of depression and lost about twenty pounds. It was a good thing for me because I started to really pay attention to how much people and friends really meant. I also got off my ass and decided to enjoy each and every day. I'm in excellent health and have made some awesome friends since I started skydiving. I started my life over and love every damn minute of it too...Another ones coming up in June, and I'm ready for it!
Dumpster 0 #50 March 30, 2006 Throw a surprise party for him, complete with all the tacky stuff from the Hallmark store, and hire a stripper. That's what I got for my 40th. Best birthday party I've ever had. But after turning 40, I quit having birthdays. Easy Does It
