hobbes4star 0 #1 April 12, 2006 Why is it that people in an office feel compelled to use their speakerphone at full volume when they could just pick up the goddamn phone and talk into it? At least turn the f*&king volume down so that the rest of the office is not forced into hearing your conversation. Thank you that is all.if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right? lawrocket 3 #3 April 12, 2006 Here's another one: how many people in offices use speaker phone while dialing and then pick up the phone once an answer comes along? Why do they do that? It seems to be the hip thing to do. My wife likes to speak to me a lot on speaker phone. It drives me nuts because half the time I can't hear half of what she's saying. So sometimes she'll call, I'll hear immediately that she's on speaker phone and I'll say, "Could you get off of speakerphone, please?" My wife is hotter than your wife. yardhippie 0 #6 April 12, 2006 I dial my phone while using speaker. Im on the phone constantly, somtimes even using a headset so I can type at the same time. I get lazy. BUT I dont want anyone listening to my conversations so I keep the volume VERY low. and actually never converse on speaker phone.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #

It's quicker and only one handed, hit a bunch of buttons. Only pickup the handset to talk. Especially useful if you have a bunch of people to call in a row. I think the 'banana phone' is much more fun. ring ring ring ring, ring ring, ring ring - ... Nightingale 0 #9 April 12, 2006 Ugh. The only time I'll use speakerphone waiting for someone to pick up is when someone like Edison or SBC has me on hold. I don't want to sit there holding the phone to my ear for an hour waiting for a human to answer. Speakerphone lets you go about your business while waiting. Putting a call on speakerphone when it's ringing and you know the person is either going to pick up or send you to voice mail is just silly unless you have your hands full or something. GiaKrembs 0 #11 April 12, 2006 Quotehow many people in offices use speaker phone while dialing and then pick up the phone once an answer comes along? I'm guilty of that... but the reason I do it is so I can multitask while dialing... I can dial with one hand and continue writing/typing with another. I typically do not wait till someone picks up though. I pick up the receiver as soon as it begins ringing so I don't disturb the rest of the office. g Raddest ho this side of Jersey #1 - rest in peace brother Beth lost her cherry and I missed it .... you want access to it, but you don't want to break it. Bolas 5 #12 April 14, 2006 Speakerphone junkie I love speakerphone. I use it all the time. I teleconference alot and basically have to listen to people blather on in meetings. I hate holding the phone up to my ear for any length of time. I don't like headsets, I feel like an operator when I wear one. I dial with it too. Very rarely when you call do you get a person, your always hitting 1 for English, and then a bunch of other numbers before you are even put on hold. Even when you dial direct your basically waiting for it to ring to voicemail. I work at home alot so my speakerphone addiction doesn't bother people normally. If I'm in the office, I try to at least keep the volume down.Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
