riddler 0 #1 April 13, 2006 Who here has been on this ride? Personally, I thought it was the best ride at Epcot. Gravitational and I took a few friends on it last year, and everyone had a good time. There have been two deaths this year related to the ride. The first, a 4-year old, who had an enlarged heart, which may have been aggravated by the stress of the ride, and today, a 49 year-old woman. Man, I really hope they keep this ride open. I used to work as an engineer in the space program, and would love the chance to go into space, but realize it will probably never happen. I know a lot of people would like too as well, and this ride is probably the closest thing that any of us will experience. Edit - just want to add a link for those people that haven't heard of it: Mission SpaceTrapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
skydiverbrian 0 #2 April 13, 2006 Don't believe everything you hear on the news. In a world full of people, only some want to fly... isn't that crazy! --Seal
SkydiveStMarys 0 #3 April 13, 2006 It sounds like a really intense ride...I was just reading the story on my Yahoo page...I would love to ride it...but I have some slight back problems, but even so.... I have thought about what "take off" must be like on a rocket....amazing...the G-forces must be incrediable!! BobbA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. I rode it right after they first built it and it beat the shit out of me...never did it again... (maybe I'm thinkin' of Space Mountain...) SpaceShipOne (Potential)..."participants has paid at least a $10,000 deposit toward a flight in a vehicle yet to be determined at an ultimate ticket price of $102,000." Now THAT'S a ride to altitude! My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. riddler 0 #8 April 15, 2006 Quote an ultimate ticket price of $102,000 Yeah, like I said - I'll never go I think the one that beats you up is Space Mountain - it's not nearly as bad as some roller coasters (the wooden ones). Mission space is pretty smooth, but you are subjected to G-forces.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
Bolas 5 #9 April 15, 2006 Mission Space is really cool, I must have road it 3-4 times. BUT, they are serious when they say keep your eyes open and your head forward... Thought I was gonna hurl.Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
