You too ? I can't get away with anything in my town. Parents 1400 miles away in Fl. know my every move.

I grew up in a small Kansas town and I often miss that lifestyle.
Last night was one of the first nights that the people that live on both sides of me have met for the first time.. they met in my yard, it was nice!
Coming from a small town I want to know the people that live around me and I want to call them friends, but here in KC calling the people around me friends have proven to be hard, but I will overcome and we all will be friends I am sure.
Small towns are great, I miss the pace of life.
Someday after I get out of school I will get back to a small town.

I could tell more stories of incredibly wonderful experiences in small towns in this country. From the East Coast to the West and all in-between. I'll save you from that.
I'm sorry to hear of your Mom's illness yet, glad she lives in a small town where folks care and show it.
I'll say some prayers for her.

Shortly after I obtained my driver's license, I was driving home in the rain. I was going way too fast on a country road not far from my home. I skidded off the road down a steep hill and through an empty field. At the bottom of the hill was a dirt road that lead to a farm, I took the dirt road back up to the main road. Everything was fine. There was absolutely no damage to the car or evidence of the incident except my heart pounding out of my chest and the tire tracks down the side of the hill.
When I arrived home, my dad asked me if I had any trouble with the car. Apparently, someone had driven by, recognized the car, and called my parents.
Small towns are bad! Word travels too fast!

I grew up in a very small town... I never could get away with anything... by the time I would get home my parents already knew what I did... sometimes I think they knew what I was doing before I did...

I'm going to uni in a small town, and I abhor it. It smells funny, and it's 121.3 miles to the DZ.

QuoteThe good things about small towns are as you mentioned. Everyone knows and cares about everybody else. That is also the bad part. You don't ever seem to have any privacy. People always seem to know everything about your life.
Sorry to hear about your mom though. That is truly a crappy way to find out about the niceities of small town life.Quote
Well, Mom didn't make it, and the funeral was Friday.
Not many people in that town know me. Every day I would take a long walk to relieve some stress. When I arrived at the funeral home on Thursday for the viewing, the funeral director asked me if I were walking around town... now that's creepy... who told him that???What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy
ones? -- Monday.

You know you live in a small town when everyone knows what everyone else is doing, and the only reason anyone reads the paper is to see who got caught.
