Costa Brava – Honeymoon - Beach?

Recommended Posts

I will be going on my honeymoon in July – the plan is a few days in Paris, a few days in Barcelona, a few days on the coast, and a few days in Amsterdam (flying into and out of here). I’ve got pretty much everything figured out except for the beach in Spain. We were thinking about getting a few nights in the Hotel Port Salins which coincidently looks close to Skydive Empuriabrava which works out great because we would both like to make some skydives (err 1 tandem for her). However I don’t want to base this leg of the vacation on easy access to the dropzone – rather I am looking for access to a good beach, luxuries, and relaxing.

Is this are good for the beach? Are there other better areas?

If anyone has any other advice as far as Paris or Barcelona id love to hear it.

Thanks

neilp

Rick Steves has a great guide for Paris. We followed his 3 day guide last July and felt we didn't waste a lot of time and really saw the highlights easily with the way he suggested planning your days. He even has a great self-guided overview of the Louve in his book and we ate at an awesome restaurant at his suggestion also.

When you book your room, spring for one with a/c. We were sweltering while we were there in July and we're Floridians and are pretty used to the heat!

I took two, two-week vacations to Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava back in the '80s and fucking loved it. I can't for the life of me remember what hotel I stayed in, but it was one block off the beach next to The Revolution night club. I have no idea how close to Empuria Brava it is though.

I have also been to Lloret De Mar in the 90's and it was a blast despite the fact that I went with my mom!:D Great beach, great nightlife, lots of sangria and cool places to visit such as Montserrat (I think that's the name of the monastery up in the mountains).
Although I'm not sure about nearby dropzones either.

Hi don’t know you or your taste. But if your coming to BCN an thinking about a trip up the coast, try Cadaques nice relaxed costal town, short walk to Dali’s home, port Ligat
Great restaurants an terraces for that late night drink whilst watching the world go by
Nearest town is Figueres with its open air market an the Dali museum
Empuria is about 30mins by car (public transport stinks)
I almost forgot next to Cadaques is Rosas (costal town) which boasts
The 2006 officially voted best restaurant in the WORLD El Bulli

Gone fishing
