SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 April 19, 2006 So does a white polo shirt with thin red and blue strips get washed with other whites or does it get washed with the colors? Help me please!! PLFXpert 0 #2 April 19, 2006 You're hilarious. And, I don't know My guess would be whites if you do not bleach, mixed/darks if you do. Good luck. You'll be in my prayersPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

jumpjunkie2004 0 #4 April 19, 2006 I've been doing laundry for a long time (read that as I'm old). I'd classify that shirt as a "light". I wouldn't include it in a load that was getting bleach. If you don't plan to use bleach, you can include it with your whites - if the shirt isn't new. You don't want to put it in with the whites if the red is going to bleed. Good luck : )Jump, Land, Pack, Repeat...
unformed 0 #5 April 19, 2006 that's one of those blatant nonconformist shirts. they just don't like to work with other shirts. you have to put them on a load all by themselves. This ad space for sale.

The wife of a friend didn't learn that lesson until he bought a beautiful white jumpsuit and put it in with a red sweater....he dyed it black because we all gave him shit about his new, pink jumpsuit. My washing machine is OLD (for a washing machine) and I can adjust the water levels with it. Why not just do what? me: I'd throw it in with the whites, water on hot/cold, and even a little bleach. But then again I take all my nice stuff that I could mess up in a washer to the dry cleaners. PLFXpert 0 #12 April 19, 2006 B/c it still uses almost the same energy. AND you still have to dry it and my stuff dries faster if there are more things in it (but not overstuffed) than just one shirt flopping around over and over I don't wash most of my clothes, except jeans, shorts, etc. I refuse to dry clean, too. I have a steamer that works GREAT. Most all of my hunny's clothes get washed, though. Between him and the animals and our towels (we go through a lot of towels washing the dog and living at the beach) I have 3 loads/week!Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. skymama 37 #13 April 19, 2006 I'd throw it in with the whites on warm water and use color safe bleach. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

PLFXpert 0 #16 April 19, 2006 I only use---actually I don't know what it is---it is really gentle, animal-friendly, no crazy additives. Bleach is bad for the environment. But........I use it, too occasionally---somehow my hunny's socks just WON'T stay white w/out itPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
skymama 37 #17 April 19, 2006 I've always used warm for whites or light colors, cold for darks. Rinse water is fine being cold and you'll save more in energy costs that way.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

I have a steamer that works GREAT. are you a hippie? because this statement stinks (pun intended) of hippie! how can you not wash clothes? all a steamer is gonna do is moisturize and heat up the funk thats in them. My dry cleaning consists of my work shirts and slacks. Shirts cleaned and pressed for 1.75 each. Thats cheaper than I can do it, and I wear undershirts so they make it a couple wears before I have them cleaned again.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
PLFXpert 0 #19 April 19, 2006 What the hell do you think they do at the dry cleaners? They STEAM! I do exactly what they do. Most of my clothes can not be washed, except the jeans, shorts, etc. I mentioned. Nearly everything I own is dry-clean only--even my "dog park" clothes that I buy at the outlets Quoteare you a hippie? Yes & no. I shower, if that's what you're asking But, I do conserve, am very into animal-rights and making love not war My general fashion is "classy hippie". In other words, I dress hippie up I keep the thrift stores in stock, but don't stock my closests with thrifty. Animal-friendly couture is costly. I do own some leather, but I also own (and due to the recent epidemic have worn often) a T-shirt that says "Mean People Wear Fur". You'll never figure me out or be able to label me. skymama 37 #20 April 19, 2006 QuoteWhat the hell do you think they do at the dry cleaners? They STEAM! Actually, I always thought that too until I saw a segment about dry cleaners on tv this week. They showed video and the clothes actually go into what looks like a special washer and dryer only they use different solvents in the water instead of detergents like we use at home. SkydiveStMarys 0 #21 April 19, 2006 Just an FYI...bleach works only if used with cold water...it is a misconception that it works well with warm/hot water..... BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
PLFXpert 0 #22 April 19, 2006 Some do, you're right. I do both In the winter, no sweat, and if I wasn't in a smelly area (like a bar) the steam/mist I have is well enough. If it requires more, I do the self dry-clean thing and some "dry-clean onlys" I actually handwash and flat dry. It would be too much to do it all at once, so I take 5 minutes every day and do whatever I wore that day, or if it needs more, put it in that seperate section hanging above the laundry basket in my hunny's closet. And I wanted you to know my methods...Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
