Andy_Copland 0 #1 April 20, 2006 Am i the only person on the planet that this annoys? For a start im not too fond of busy places but Cambridge makes my blood boil for other reasons. Every bastard arse student rides a bike that wouldnt look out of place in the early 1940's. But no, this isnt the only thing that bugs me, they all think they are cars and stick to the lights and road signs, they see a red light and stop while i come zooming past and make an emergency pass onto the path to narrowly avoid collision (which is perfectly safe in my opinion if your looking ahead and aware of your surroundings) Pffft i hate Cambridge Cyclists1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. billvon 3,125 #2 April 20, 2006 Cambridge MA or Cambridge UK? I did a lot of biking in the MA one when I was in college! Was the easiest way to get around. Over here cyclists have to stop for stop signs and whatnot (although some don't.)
SpeedRacer 1 #3 April 20, 2006 I've been told by experts in the area that if you're riding a bike in an area where traffic is slow (< 25 mph) you should occupy your space in the lane and behave as a driver would, ie, obey traffic signals & signal when you turn etc. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
shropshire 0 #4 April 20, 2006 What pisses me off is the bastards that cycle down the pedestrian roads (Sidney & Trinity etc..) and ring their bells at me for walking in the middle of their road. Andy_Copland 0 #5 April 20, 2006 Cambridge UK Im not sure about the rules here but i do it anyway. If im on the road and see a red i skip to the path and blaze across if its clear, it did cross my mind if its legal as i have done it in front of police a few times but never been collered by em so dont think im doing anything wrong. I think its more that not only do they stop for every single thing but its the bikes, i swear to god i've seen some that must be 50 years old. I'd say 90% of them are riding bikes that range from 1960 to 1984 5% from pre 1960 and 5% are modern......hang on does that make 100? 90 + 5 + 5 = Winner!1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Andy_Copland 0 #6 April 20, 2006 See even the rebels who ride on the paths have fucking bells! Whats going on in Cambridge! Im guilty of blazing down pedestrian paths but i still remember who has the right of way and get out the fucking way.1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. You are a big boy after all (or so the writing says on the toilet wall) As is riding through red light. The first was an old brown hercules ladies bike until it got stolen and now its an old gold and blue bike with chrome etc with a nice curved frame that belonged to my uncle (which actually looks very nice in 'the flesh' despite the description sounding awful) The reason for the old bikes is that I got them for free and no way in hell am I risking my proper bike (a Kona) on the streets of Cambridge for some little shit to walk off with. I take great care to ignore red lights when i can, and when you know the sequence its rather sweet. Although I have been stopped by the police who just reeled off a speach about your safety (this was a clear road). When riding within the pedestrianised area I am very aware of everything around me and will slow down rather than shout out- (which would probably be more dangerous if they then step to either side without realising where you are coming from ) What annoys me most is misled people who buy shit full suspension bikes in halfords when a rigid bike would be far far better for the same price. Never buy a full suspension bike under at least £800. And we are talking about Cambridge not Wales here. Then there are the little old ladies who walk over to your side of the street just to try and grab your handlebars... wow im rambling a bit..but im just avoiding my disseration which is actually on a congestion charge in Cambridge due in 10 days.. how fun
 Andy_Copland 0 #11 April 20, 2006 Transfere to Cambridge Scoop and you can tell me what to do if im being naughty boy (no not in a kinky way you sick bastard.) Allthough one time the local police dept put up one of those speed control signs where they display your speed, and under it have the speed limit. They actually pick up a cyclist on a bicycle. So far I have only been able to get up to 17 MPH. Hopefully this summer I can get faster.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly.
