it depends on if you are using a 6 line phone cord or a 4 wire or a 2.. make sure you have the proper phone corde for the line you are using. if the wires don't match up you will not getthe correct line ect...... a better discription would help...

Here's what I have - a black wire, a silver wire, and a gray wire. :D

A 4-line phone with 3 jacks in the back - one for lines 1-2, one for 3-4, and one for the data port.

Then I have a phone jack in the wall with 2 holes - and we only have 2 lines; it just happens to be a 4-line phone.

do both of the lines from the wall plug in the phone? if so can you determine what line is line 1 and what line is line 2? try pluging one in and trying line 1 and then swap them out..... if you are getting one line from each wall hole try going with line 2 to the fax and then taking that line into the phone from the other plug on the machine.......

if i'm not making sence feel free to call and i can try and walk you through it...

Plug the fax maching into the data port and then plug both lines from the wall into the phone. Look at page 7 for a picture :P

okay, plug the fax machine into the data port, slect line 2 as the data line by using the data port switch located on the back of the phone.. should work just fine, try calling line two and see if it goes to that line.......

can you not use line 2 though to call out of? or does line 2 work now?
