Amazon 7 #2 April 20, 2006 I have had some friends who have allergies that thought the very best allergy medicine was being about 400 miles offshore on a sailboat out of reach of plants

PLFXpert 0 #4 April 20, 2006 Oh my gosh...this has driven me nuts. Finally I discovered---I need an antihistamine? I think that's what I need. I was spending $5 on a box of 20 pills Then I discovered I can get 200 for $5 at Costco. Buy your allergy pills from Costco. Mine are Kirkland Signature (generic of Tylenol) good for stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, itcy/watery eyes, etc. I swear by them! And if you take them at night with a couple Tylenol PM's (for extra acetaminophen), you are GOOD to goPaint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Paige 0 #10 April 20, 2006 I took Claritin for a very long time before it stopped working for me (just because I took it so long). Now I use Allegra, seems to do the trick nicely. I have pretty bad allergies, I go for 3 shots twice a week as of now. I hope you get yours under control, I know how bad it can stink.Tunnel Pink Mafia Delegate www.TunnelPinkMafia.com
karenmeal 0 #11 April 20, 2006 Claritin: I use this in the off-season and it helps keep things under control. I've never noticed any side effects with this. But when my allergies are bad, this is pretty much useless. If you try this, get generic. It is the same, but much cheaper. Allegra: I take allegra now.. it is alright. They have a generic version which costs less. Zyrtec: They don't have a generic form of this out on the market yet, otherwise I would totally be on this. This stuff worked the best for me. But I have to pay like $35 a month for it. That is just too much considering all the allergy and asthma drugs that I take. Rhinocort Aqua: This is the nasal spray. I think this stuff is key. Once I get my allergies under control if I take this once every day or every other day it really helps. Benadryl: I only take this when my prescriptions run out and I'm desperate. It makes me feel drunk and stoned. I guess that is good sometimes though.. but not good for skydiving. Allergy Shots: I did a series of them for 4 years and saw a reduction in my allergies.. but then they came back, and I moved to another coast and developed all new allergies. Hope this helps. If you want a rating of the current asthma medications I can do that too. skymama 37 #12 April 20, 2006 My doctor told me it is ok to mix Claritin and non-drowsy Sudafed, so that is what I use when things are really bad. I also have been using the steriod nasal spray Nasonex for quite a few years now. It really helps me breathe at night and makes it so I don't sneeze for the first two hours every morning when I wake up.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

GiaKrembs 0 #15 April 21, 2006 Zyrtec works well with me... I'm now on Flonase at night, Astelin/Advair in the morning, medicated eye drops, and Zyrtec. I still have attacks where I have to use an albuterol inhaler... I start allergy shots next week! Never thought I'd ever look forward to that!!!!
