ACMESkydiver 0 #78 April 20, 2006 Very interesting insight. I was looking around what I could on MySpace and found some things I'd like to be a part of...like my buddies up at Snoho that I haven't seen in forever. I want to know what they're up to! I want to see pics of their fun hikes and jumps and dogs and friends and stuff like that...I can't visit due to distance, time, and injuries...so I want to keep up with everyone and pitch in an occassional 'Hi! I saw your pic of hiking! That looked like fun!'. Stuff like that. I'm not one of those kind of people that's concerned at all about that 'my friends' list or whatever that is, I just want to keep up with some people I'm in distance from. If I don't have 900,000 people on there to make me feel popular I'm not too worried. -Mebbe that's why they won't let me in. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. mdrejhon 8 #80 April 20, 2006 My myspace.com profile has been useful in finding a number of new gay skydivers who's interested in attending Rainbow Boogie 2006. I believe it added about 5 additional registrations, from previously unknown skydivers who weren't members of dropzone.com. Apparently, there are skydivers who are members of myspace, who aren't members of dropzone.com!

Anywho, something about the word "circumvent" just doesn't sound fair to me I don't like it. I will choose to use "elude" in its place from now on. I like "elude". It has a nice sound to it. MarkM 0 #91 April 20, 2006 MySpace is just a tool. I wish people would stop putting so much drama onto it, like it was some sort of social phenomenon. Yes a lot of people on it are shallow, insecure morons. But guess what? Most people are shallow insecure morons at some point in their life. Who cares? Myspace actually works pretty well for skydivers, to keep in touch with other jumpers at DZs, find new jumpers in your area and so on. And the drama, clicks, attention whoring, etc on dz.com isn't any better either.

flygirl1 0 #93 April 21, 2006 I used to be totally against myspace, until my boyfriend signed me up and a group of friends that I haven't talked to since high school found me. Now I think It can be a good thing as long as you don't take it to seriously. I usually only add people I know in person or that I have met on here, but I will make an exception for other skydivers because in our small world there's a good chance I might meet them someday.Fly like a girl

That's how I feel about DZ.com. When it first started, it was a small handful of us, most of whom had just started jumping and back in those days, actually talked a lot more about skydiving Most of us knew each other personally, but those that didn't we soon met. Even now that it's grown so much, I feel the same way and am excited I have plans to meet up with several of "my favorites"Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
