monkycndo 0 #3 April 21, 2006 The producers of lemonade did a study and found that mostly women were drinking lemonade. In order to get men to drink it, they added the pink to it. Minute Maid and most other frozen concentrate brands have a little bit of grapefruit juice in the pink lemonade. Nope - Minute Maid has grape juice - see above... More from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nimbu_pani "An approximate recipe for U.S. and Canadian lemonade is to mix equal volumes of lemon juice and sugar and add water to taste, approximately four times as much water as lemon juice. In many upscale supermarkets, tall bottles marked as European lemonade can be purchased. These are always carbonated or “sparkling.” Often such lemonades are translucent yellow, more like North American lemonade, though there are occasionally transparent and pink varieties as well. A pink lemonade variation can be produced by adding red food coloring or grenadine syrup. Traditionally, beet juice provided the pink color; so little is needed that the flavor of the drink remains largely unchanged. This beverage may have originated as a replacement for "Indian lemonade," a cold infusion of red sumac berries, sometimes sweetened with maple sugar. Sumac beverages have a taste and appearance similar to pink lemonade, and were popular with Native Americans and early European settlers.""Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
SkymonkeyONE 4 #10 April 21, 2006 I am from the country. Opelika, Alabama. When I was a kid we made our own lemonade and I have to tell you that what differentiated regular lemonade from "pink" was sqeezing some pink grapefruits into the mix. Idiologies and methods may have changed in the past four decades, or they may have done it differently up in Yankee-land, but my recollection is unflawed in this instance. PLFXpert 0 #18 April 21, 2006 QuotePink lemonade is made with grapefruit I was under the impression that was called "grapefruit juice" I always thought "pink lemonade" was just for shits & giggles---you know, since pink is more fun than yellow when you're sipping lemonade. They add grenadine for the color. If Bobbi has taught me one thing, it's that I know nothing Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
NWFlyer 2 #19 April 21, 2006 I've always made it by adding grenadine. Grenadine not only adds color, it adds sweetness, which cuts the tartness of the lemonade. Thus, pink lemonade does taste different from regular lemonade."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
