What does an 8 year old with heart disease look like?

Recommended Posts

Like this. Can you believe it? Looks just like any other happy lil' guy!

That's my Joey. Joey has heart disease and has since he was 4 months old. Today we went back to the Pediatric Cardiologist to get a sedated echo to check his heart. We had high expectations.

Prognosis: Looks great!! The only thing that was just a step out of the norm was his right coronary artery was a bit enlarged. Doc will check him again at age 12.

If'n you are so inclined, lend my little Joey a prayer or a good thought or two. Poor kid deals with the challenges of Autism, and has this going on in his chest at the same time.

Prayers and positive wishes helped heal our Joey from 5 coronary aneurisms as an infant, and we've never stopped expecting miracles for him and his twin.

Thanks all. :)

Sounds like a positive report, Jaye. You've got some tough little ones in your family, but I know exactly where they get their toughness. :)

Sending prayers your way.

On another note, I live in Alabama and this Saturday my children and I are participating in a "Walk for Autism" ~ truly a great cause!

Best wishes to you and your family! :)

NICE! We will be doing our Walk in August I think...I have to check the calendar.

Do you have a special one you're walking for in particular? :)

Yes, his name is Nick Dunn. Check it out:

I grew up with his dad and now my mother teaches Nick in Children's Church. The children's church group and families are participating along with a few others from different churches in the area. My oldest daughter and I will be walking and pushing my 9 month old in the stroller. It's going to be a great day ~ we've been planning it for a few months now and have really been looking forward to it.

Mike and Ed, thanks! I'm so happy. -And Joey, though showing the tiniest signs of grogginess still from the sedation, is happy as a clam playing outside in the sun.

I have to watch it or I'm going to get him liking to play hookie! :P

I just realized that I don't know how to spell 'hookie'...:o ie? y? who knows...

Rest assured there is a special prayer for you, your family and Joey going up from very many people tonight.
I really believe that these are special people, sent to us to make US special people, and that there is a special place for all of us somewhere down the road.
Enjoy every minute!
