Airman1270 0 #1 April 25, 2006 That picture of the guy chopping his main a short distance above the water on the reader response page - It's an old rainbow Strato Cloud, just like mine. Apparently, he decided not to get his "good" gear wet so he used the old rig for this dive. And I thought I was the only one who still had one of those in service. Nice photo. Cheers, Jon S. NickDG 23 #3 April 25, 2006 While SKYDIVING did mention the bit about height over water being hard to judge there's another issue to ponder if you try the same thing. There was a jumper in So Cal who went into the ocean on a demo after a bad spot some years ago and he also cutaway at a reasonable height above the water. The bottom of the reserve pack tray hit the water and then slammed into the back of his head hard enough it snapped his spine as neatly as a hangman's gallows . . .
