Someone enlightened me about this...I always thought that you steered clear of anyone who was wearing a ring on that finger.....am I that old? God, I must be out of the loop if this is true.....me and my cane are going to sit in the corner now...

I've never heard of it, but once I got married I figured that this would probably be a good technique. The wedding ring seemed to be a coded message from my wife:

"Ladies! There's a woman out there who thinks he's okay - me! So hit on him. And do me a favor, girlies - test his fidelity. After all, he deserves better than me."

I wish I'd have thought of that wedding band idea when I was single.

This all boils down to sex. If a woman is looking for a fling with no commitment, she's going to nail a married man. Works both ways. If you're tagging a married person you really don't have to worry about a relationship or any of that "I love you" crap.

Some women may find an attached guy attractive because they know for a fact that there will be no strings attached.

Also many like the challenge of getting someone who is theoretically "off the market". When I was younger and went out to clubs I found that if I was merely with freinds I didn't get paid significant attention by the opposite sex (I am an average guy with no particularly hot features), yet if I went with a girlfreind other women would hit on me.

Even now, sometimes when me and my wife go out to a bar, women who otherwise wouldn't notice me have hit on me quite blatantly in front of her (and we don't go out to trashy places).

Based on that I can see the reasoning behind the wedding band theory.

I think that is truly sad. The sad part is not that single guys wear a wedding ring to pick up women, but the fact that women would want to have some "fun" with what they would perceive as another woman's husband.
