kschilk 0 #1 November 10, 2007 Does anyone know the approximate shelf-life of rubber band stows? They've been stored in the original box, still have the talcum and were kept at comfortable (68 - 75 degree) indoor tempreatures. Randoms stretch-tests seem to indicate they're still ok but just wondered if there's a set shelf-life recommendation for them."T'was ever thus." councilman24 37 #2 November 10, 2007 If you stow the lines and they don't break I'd say they're good to go.I'm sure there is a mil spec shelf life but I don't know what it is. Mine hang around for many years. I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
kschilk 0 #3 November 10, 2007 I rarely break any and I usually replace them all, after 4 or 5 jumps or after an extended layoff, just for s & gs. They must still be ok. I appreciate the reply! "T'was ever thus."
PhreeZone 20 #4 November 11, 2007 Terry, do you pack many Racer Speed bags? I'm yet to see one but I understand you have to have Mil-Spec bands for it. Anyone know what the shelf life is on them?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

councilman24 37 #6 November 11, 2007 I don't pack ANY Racer speed bags. Never have. This isn't a Racer part of the country any more. Used to do several Racers/SST's with round reserves. In fact I have one of the proto type SST's that was given to the World Team in 74 or 75.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
RMURRAY 1 #7 November 13, 2007 I asked Keener about shelf life. They only know how long they have to get them to the military..... "The military requires that the bands it purchase be no older than six months. I do not know how long they maintain them in inventory. Sincerely, Richard Michelson Keener Rubber Company"
darkwing 5 #8 November 13, 2007 For use on mains as far as I'm concerned, if they feel right, they are OK to use. Too many variables in a straight lifetime issue to be useful. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
