vibes & prayers

Recommended Posts

So here is the good news: We are moving to Bend Oregon and I will finally have a job that pays and be close to the things we love mountains, mountains and more mountains.

The bad news: I leave in the morning to start work on thursday but my family has to stay behind. My wife teaches and the school does not get out until JUNE 7th!:( My 2 year old Caedmon knows something is up and has been pretty upset for a week now. Please pray (or what ever) that Caed does okay without his daddy.

Thanks!

Get some webcams with microphones that you can set up and talk to each other. He'll probably like that.

To add to that, make a video of you reading his favorite books. I bet he'd watch that quite a few times! Also, give him a calendar so he can draw an X through the days until he sees you again.

I can't take credit for all of these ideas, they used some of them on Super Nanny last night.

Hang tough.

Seperation is hard.

When I moved back to the states from BC, Canada my wife and step son
remained in BC for 18 months until I got well established and brought them here.

We only had about 3 visits during that time.

It was hard. Very hard. Almost too hard.

We made it, though. If we survived 18 months apart, you (and Caedmon and your wife) can make it till June :)

you have yourself a nice family. making sure your son hears you first thing in the morning and last thing at night will do wonders. While I am not married, for now, I live apart from my loved one and that means a lot to the both of us.

good luck and congrats on the new job.

Kinda like the calender idea, you can make those paper chains like in elementary school (you know where each loop is made up of like an inch strip of paper) where he can tear one off every morning or night to count down till he can see you. You guys could even make it together before you leave...

Take lots of pics too and keep them by his bed.

I think the webcam idea is the best though!

Seperation is hard. My dad was in the military and there were times he was gone for several months at a time. Of course thats was when everything would go wrong. Mom's car would break down.. a tree would fall on the roof... all the "daddy things".. of course! :D
You'll make it through. It really is just a short period of time in your son's life. He wont remember, and I promise he wont be traumatized. Sounds like you're making a small sacrifce for the long term benefit of your family. :)

You'll all miss each other, but the 6 weeks will fly by. When you said vibes and prayers, I thought someone was seriously injured or killed. I'm glad you're all happy and healthy.

How far of a move is it? Can you visit on weekends or something? You can be house hunting in your spare time, or drive up to Madras to skydive. It takes a while to survey a housing market. You can get a lot of that done for your wife before she joins you. :)

Sorry about that. I've found that prayer is good for the small things to.

Currently we live in Stillwater Oklahoma about 1800 miles away. So weekend visits are out of the question.

I looked for the DZ in Madras last summer and couldn't find it. We were driving from Bend to Portland for the weekend and I wanted to check it out. I drove all over the airport and never saw it.

We did the same thing when my oldest son was about 18 months. I remember how hard it was on my husband as he drove the u-haul away.

I wish you the best and will certainly be thinking of all of you. My family is moving again....next week. It is an exciting/stressful time.

Congratulations and God Bless all of you!

i've made a list of people who i send vibes out to

i send them out of groups of 5 in fifteen minute intervals. I'm currently managing to fit a couple of prayers in on the half hour mark.

please pm me any other people you want me to vibe for, i'll add them to the rotation. I prefer sick people, but i'll do seperations, headaches, tickly coughs and people who have forgotten to buy some milk

erm ......

anybody else thinking this isn't a matter of life and death here?

some dude goes and gets a job away from his family, seems to be his choice, i don't see anybody posting that he's got no choice at gun point to do this. So, he has chosen to do something, nobody making him, and we are supposed to (can't even believe i'm going to say this...) send through the atmospher, vibes and prayers :S

hey fella, i've got a suggestion, if you don't want to put yourself and your family through this, erm.... don't put yourself and your family through this :|
