US gas prices.

On May 15th all myspace members are to not go to the gas station in protest high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places. There are 72,110,073 members currently on the network, and the average car takes about 20 to 30 dollars to fill up. If all myspace members did not go to the pump on the 15th it would take $2,163,302,190.00 out of the oil companys pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the oil industry for at least one day.

HERE IS MY SUGGESTION

Um...the only thing that does is um...nothing. so the oil Companies don't make a profit on the 15th. but everyone fills up on the 14th or the 16th anyway. it doesnt even affect their budget. If you really want to protest, start car pooling. start walking to the corner store instead of driving your lazy ass. buy a more fuel efficient car. If 72,000,000 people don't buy gas on the 15th then they will all need it again on the 16th.
But if 72,000,000 used just ONE gallon per week less than they normally do, they would feel the pinch.

WHAT SAY YOU?
will you use one less gallon per week?

I disagree.

If 72 million people cut their fuel usage the oil companies are just going to cut production a little so supply meets demand and then raise the price some.Look at the POS cars the drive over seas and look at what they pay for gas.Face it,they have us buy the balls till the government does something or we find a new way to run everything.I'll stop here so this doesn't end up in the SC.

I am absolutely thrilled w/ $3/gal gas. Can't wait for $5 or $6/ gal gas. Seriously! Why would I pitty those buying $400k houses in the 'burbs, req. 50 mi. RTs (200 mi. total) from the city commuting to their workplaces each day.

What about my $100/mo outlay in asthma medications because of air pollution. I say: Get rid of your 3,000 sqft urban starter-palaces, your gas-guzzling SUVs, and get a bike. Also does wonders to your waistline (health costs and premiums). And while we are at it: maybe instead of bombing other countries and innocent ppl into the ground to the tune of $80b+ each year: how about functioning public transport, nationalized health care?

it's hard to have any sympathy for people paying $3 a gallon when you have to pay £4.30 a gallon ( about $7)

may i suggest you remove the sand from your vagina, or get better paid jobs?

I cant help it you are taxed to death. Fuel costs the same you just have more taxes added on.

You will care when you start paying through the nose for eveything you buy.
Remember everything in any store came there by a truck. If it cost more to ship guess who pays?

well then, I won't put gas in my car on the 14th, 15th and 16th...

most of us are driving less, at least a gallon less a week.... that would be 30 miles less in my case.
The DZ now needs to set up a shuttle, from Phoenix to Eloy to Tucson and back so I can go burn a few gallons of JET A. :S:$

won't work either... you still transfre it... now if yu just don't buy the gas you would of on those dates, say 20 gallons, then it could....... but it's probly just a transference of time...

what would really be nice is to get rid of all vehicls that get low gas milage or tax the registration of said vehicle.... more fuel efficency is the only thing that will hep if our driving habbits stay the same..

never mind the political bullshit. at $111,000,000,000 profit the oil companies made last year, they can cut the drop the price 25cents all over the whole and still bust a fat profit.

Just think, in Germany, you are paying about 2 pr 3 dollars for a liter, and there are close to 4 liters per gallon. Its crazy as hell!

Here is my two cents worth.

I work for an oil company. We are worth an estimated 23.3 billion dollars and have roughly 7,200 employees worldwide. Last quarter we produced 636,000 barrels of oil for a net profit of 1.2 billion. Once the operation expenses are removed, and they are quite large, the gross profit is portioned out as operating capital and stock dividends.

With oil prices over $70 per barrel we are drilling new wells and enhancing our oil production as fast as we can. With that said, we will be drilling new wells and pumping the living #$%^ out of the ground even if the price were to drop to 10 dollars a barrel. We, like most oil companies, are publically held. Anyone can purchase our stocks and would share in the profits. Our bonuses, when they occur, are not tied to profit but to production and safety.

No one complains when oil companies suffer though oil gluts and the price drops. We product as much oil as we can regardless. As an industry we track the cost to extract a barrel of oil and the only time we would minimize oil production would be if a well can not product its own cost of operating. A barrel of oil is 42 US gallons. Compare this to milk, liquid paper, or worse Visine and gasoline is fairly cheap.

American are spoiled by cheap gas prices. Anyone who has driven in Europe returns to the US and kisses the first gas pump they see.

Now, bring on the hate mail. :S

Everyone seems to want to compare the prices in europe to us prices.
Apple and oranges. the gas price is worldwide. everyone pays the same, it's just the amount of taxes on each gallon or litre that is different.

absolute rubbish
when ya threaten to bomb the crap out of oil producing country's and have your own big oil companies sucking the life out of poor oil countries and giving nothing back you then get cheap fuel, which is extremly cheap, only around $3 a gallon,
thats the diff

until you explain it, I thought it was all a big ass fuck by the big oil compnay owners. I didnt realize the oil industry had it so bad.:S.

after reading your post I fell...well I feel the same way.lol.

I hear they are going to start puting the new generation of pumps in, with a safety device that will avoid overflow.

yep, before the gas starts pumping they have a 2nd handle that yo uhave to shove straight up your ass to turn the pump on.:o:o

those guys are just not happy until they ruin your day:ph34r:

I liked the other idea posted on myspace:

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a
gallon by this summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come
down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth
offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"
campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies
just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt"
ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it
was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can
really work.... blah, blah:

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is
if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can.

Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two
biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce
their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon
and Mobil gas buyers.

...maybe a good suggestion, don't buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN.

yea but than the little companies would just raise thier prices and become a super power too.

I say we all do that. one year we make one co. rich than we bankrupt it the following by making the other co. rich ;)
