Mom update (Im so excited best day of my life) and a thankyou!

Recommended Posts

Mom had finally stopped bleeding internally, and they had moved her from the IC unit to a regular room, they had planned on moving her to a Rehab house to be taken care of and have them help her work on building up strength and learning how to walk. The night before they moved her Mom decided she wanted to walk, but she couldnt and she had a nasty fall, putting her back in ICU (Intensive Care Unist).

This brought my stess and emotional level to a dangerous high, lucky I had someone that was there for me that had some experience in this area with her own mother in the past, she explained the Doctor talk to me, and helped me mentally through all of this. I have a new respect and admiration for this person for her caring and overall helpfullness. she went out of her way and organized a Blood Drive with all the local skydivers, with her and my friends. ( I want to thank them also ). I want to publicly thank Arlo with all my heart, and ask everyone to let her know she is the coolest (sorry Arlo but its true).

So back to Mom, she was released from ICU the second time after 3 days but her mental state after all of this was very bad, she had no short term memory at all, and has coming up with the strangest things to say, the DR's told me that it might be permanent. I would be talking to my Mom and she would tell me she wishes Ray would call or visit, I would tell her I am ray and she would tell me Im not, Im Steven (her brother). This has gone on for a while and it was looking permanent, then today I get the best call ever. Its my Mom's husband and he is jumping up and dow with excitement, she woke up today with all of her memory back, and she was back to normal mentally, a check up with the dr and they are letting her go home this weekend (99% chance) The Nurses say that she is driving them crazy travelling all over the place in her wheel chair. They would let her go home now but they want a few days of intence PT to build up her strength and help her to walk again.

So Mom went from having her ICU Doctor trying to get me to sign her living will to take her off life support because it was as he said "worthless" she had no chance of recovering, and was wasting a lot of blood, to going home and running over everyone with her wheelchair.

This is one of those times that your faith in the lord is re-inforced. I know I was praying my a$$ off and a lot of my friends were too.

So I want to thank the staff (besides one DR, and one Nurse) from Monroe Hospital in Ocala, I want to thank and want everyone else to thank Arlo for being such a good person. And I want to thank everyone that went and gave blood in my Mom's Name. And on the top of the list I want to thank the big guy, the guy up above, God for giving my Mom another chance, and me another chance to be a lot more involved in my Mom's life and to spend some time with her again, doing what she loves to do (Fishing, and eating oysters). I told my mom how many people were praying for her, getting blood drained from them, and helping out for her. She was thankfull as heck and wanted me to tell everyone thankyou.

THANKS EVERYONE Im going to be able to have dinner with my Mom sunday at her house, if this isn't a miracle I dont know what is.

Ray.

P.S being so close to something like this, I have seen how important our Blood banks are, without us they will be empty. Pleasse take some time and go give blood. The life you save might be closer to you than you expect one day.

Ray,

I am truly thankful for your great news! I've been praying for her and am so glad the outcome is good. I had a very serious scare with my own mom back in '91. So, I can say that I somewhat understand your emotions.

Reading this, really lifted my spirits. Thanks.:)
To Arlo, I already know you are a very cool person. You've done a few little favors for me in the past that I have not forgotten. Thanks for being the person you are and seeing our skybuddy through this difficult time. Next time I'm down at the tunnel, I hope we can get together. That includes you too, Ray.

Very best wishes to your mom and entire family.

Chris

On your way out of the hospital, be sure to stop in the ER and show your mom off to the doc and nurse who were so doubtful. Tell them that they can't give a date of death to a patient, only the guy up above can, and they shouldn't be too quick to force his hand.
