Accepting your destiny . . .

Recommended Posts

Guess youd have to believe in destiny. I dont. I believe in freewill. We are free to do what we want as long as we are willing to work for it or suffer for it depending on what a person wants.

Do you ever feel like you spend all of your time fighting your destiny? I sure do. I want things to be a certain way, and I can't accept that they might not turn out that way.

Is that normal?

Of course. Your destiny is to be my second wife instead of Hippy. But you keep fighting it.:D:D:D

What an interesting interpretation of what I said. :D But no. :D

I'm just thinking about where I'll end up living, and the whole marriage, family, etc. stuff. This school stuff has really thrown me for a loop. I never considered having to move to go to nursing school, and now that looks like a very real possibility - one that I don't like but am going to HAVE to deal with.

I certainly hope there is no such thing as destiny. While I have certainly seen circumstantial evidence indicating that fate/destiny is predetermined, I truly hope that is not the case. I would hate to think that my future is predetermined.

What about Emory?

I think I kind of know what you mean. There is definatley that easy path in life, like staying at the same job, or living where you do just because that is what you have always done. It is easy and comfortable.
Then there is the hard path in life where you really have to work at it and make some hard decisions.
I'm heading down the hard path right now, but hoping all of my decisions payoff. It seems like the easy way isn't always the happy path. :)

Your destiny is what you make it.

When you jump from a plane you are destined to die, at least until you do something about it. Jump a canopy way beyond your abilities, you are destined to injury.

These are examples of destiny. Note that they are CAUSED by choices you can make.

Destiny is the result of choices you make. You are destined to make a decision about nursing school. This is set up due to your choice to look into it.

Only accept your destiny when your destiny is what you wanted it to be.

My wife is hotter than your wife.

Ok, I'm gonna try to respond to everyone.

Emory = $$$$$$$$, so without a BIG scholarship, that's a no-go.

Kennesaw - yes, Simplyputsi, you're right. Their admission criteria are the problem. And I stand a 99% chance of getting into next SUMMER's program, but I really want to start next Spring. There are a couple of places I could probably get in then, but they're the ones that require moving.

Although, to hear me talk last night after a couple of glasses of red wine, I really want to be a doctor. :D

I believe I'm in the life phase known as "identity confusion". How frustrating. :D I think that's why it's so difficult for me to "choose" my destiny, so perhaps I'd like to think something bigger than me will lead me in the right direction.

apply anyway. I applied and got a scholarship, but basically every one of my friends who went there qualified for a grant of some kind. They're based on need. So apply anyway. If you don't get a grant, then you're only out the application fee. Emory's worth it.

Hope we'll see you at the wedding next weekend. :)

Good destinies rarely go looking for people. It's kind of like finding someone to be with the rest of your life -- if you only take the ones who come looking, you're probably not getting the cream of the crop.

So apply to Kennesaw and Emory; if it turns out that you have to wait a session to go to Kennesaw, but that's where you want to go -- what do the extra 6 months mean in 10 years?

And if you move, remember -- it's a whole new market of DZ guys

Your destiny is what you make it.

***

Truer words...B|

Brings back the idea of 'free will' being the dominating factor. You choose your life for the most part.

I couldn't figure out what to do after high school...my dad broke it down to me this way~

You have to look at your life kind of as a 3 month long summer road trip cross country.

One coast is the cradle the other the grave.

It's YOUR trip, you decide where you want to go and what you want to see along the way.

You should have some general goals....destinations if you will, that you place above others 'goals' that you'll head toward on the trip.

Like on a map...it's makes more sense to do things in a certain 'general' order...
reduces the 'backtracking time'

But keep in mind, sometimes it's good to backtrack if that's where the trip takes you.

Like on a summer trip...if you focus only on the destination, and drive like hell to get there, you miss all the cool stuff along the way.

Who knows...you may stop for lunch in some small town, like the vibe and stay THERE for a week or two...experiencing things you may have missed if you had gone past without looking.

It's ultimately YOUR trip Kele...you set the destination and map the paths.

You have nothing but time and open road ahead of you...shrug off the 'pressure' you are feeling to get some 'certain' place at some designated time.

Other people may be 'suggesting' to you where to go and what to see...but those things were important to 'them' in 'their' lives...they aren't YOU.

Who knows...YOU make not like the place when you get there and move on to someplace else.

Your 'destiny'...your 'trip'...is what YOU make it.B|

If you aren't having fun along the way...what's the point in even going?!;)

I believe that we have certain things we're meant to lean in our lifetime, and those lesson keeps coming up until we get it in the way we're supposed to. I look at life as one of those "choose your own adventure" books from when I was a kid. . . a mix of destiny and free will. That doesn't mean I don't struggle with some of the choices I've made, like moving back to Oregon because I'd forgotten how much my family drives me up the wall. . . but had I not moved back, I doubt I'd have started skydiving. Who knows?

Is it my destiny to say here? I hope not, and I'm making plans to help the situation by being financially ready for a move. If it's destiny, good. I always liked the quote of "Pray to God, but row for the shore".

When taking classes for nursing... TAKE SOME OF THE PRE-REQ'S FOR MEDICAL SCHOOL!
Typically try to get:
- Biology or zoology with a lab-one year
- Inorganic chemistry with lab-one year
- Organic chemistry with lab-one year
- Physics with lab-one year
- English-one year college level English
- Calculus-one year
but they do vary from school to school
Leave your options open. You need a BS to apply to med school, what your major is isn't as important as getting the pre-reqs. Then after working as a nurse, decide if you want to continue on your education. Being a nurse was great.... being a doctor is an amazing challenge.... but you will have the option then in the future to decide.

Destiny. I used to believe in it until two years ago... then she dealt me a card that I hated.... so her and I aren't on good terms now. So fuck her and do what you want to do.
You only have one go at this game... play hard.

Karen
