Kid_Icarus 0 #28 May 5, 2006 Those are some of the most amazing photos I've seen. I could never imagined that parts of Africa or this planet, look like that. Even the people seem sooooo different. I wonder what they were thinking in those photos? Crazy to think how different my situation is, looking on a computer at remote places of the world, from theirs, foraging for food and not watching the simpsons at night. Really give you a different perspective on life. Thanks for sharing! ________________________________________ "What What.....
DJL 235 #29 May 5, 2006 Ok, now about the nubian princess in your series. Did the weekend end with an Ace Ventura-esque sprint through the rough with an angry tribe breathing down your back?"I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
kallend 2,112 #30 May 5, 2006 QuoteHeya all, As you may (or may not) have noticed I've been gone for the past 3 weeks. I spent most of that time traveling with my family in Namibia (where I grew up) in an area in the north-west called the Kaokoland. The Kaokoland is remote, to say the least, and managing to travel 150 miles per day in a good 4x4 would be considered a good day on the road. Namibia is a harsh country and is often referred to as "The Land God made in Anger". This has been an exceptional rainy season though and the desert and semi-desert areas are covered with grass and other signs of life. I spent some time in the central-western and south-western region as well. This part of the country is home to some of the highest sand dunes in the world and is part of the world's oldest desert - the Namib Desert. Even here the rain has brought life to a usually arid land. The people in the pictures are part of the Himba tribe which lives in the Kaokoland. The Himbas are the 3rd most primitive tribe in Africa and the 7th most primitive in the world. They are an interesting and proud people. Anyway, I'm back and wanted to say Hi. Enjoy the photos. http://www.dropzone.com/temp/ Fine, but I really liked your pictures of Cambridge... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. skymama 37 #36 May 6, 2006 The pictures are fine. I just want to know if you saw Brad and Angelina over there getting ready to have the baby. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

flyangel2 2 #39 May 6, 2006 The Namibia pictures got my attention. Olaf has promised me that when he heads back home he will let me join him and he'll show me the country. Now that I've seen what I have to look forward to, I need to get Olaf off his ass so we can make some travel plans.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. warpedskydiver 0 #41 May 6, 2006 great pics and beautiful, but harsh scenery...you can see why the animals that inhabit that area are so damned tough. I was wondering if you are a hunter, and if you have hunted there in recent years....wow what a challenge
