How have you gotten out of a traffic ticket?

Recommended Posts

In Georgia, they are (I was a firefighter for several years) allowed 4 miles over if in emergancy vehicles, if in PVs they are to follow the posted speed limits. Namgrunt is talking about GA ... Laws very and if I remember correctly it actually could be different depending on citys and such.

Oh, yes. I forgot another one I got out of.

Dateline - Spring, 1999, Ft. Pickett, Virginia. We had a mission going on, and I was out there as part of an Observer/Controller crew. I was the only Lieutenant in the whole Battalion - the most Junior Officer by probably 6 years. For some reason they thought I was good enough. My O/C Team had as officers 3 Majors and a Captain(Promotable), and me - a recently promoted 1LT.

So after the mission is over, as the junior officer I was driving a minivan with the other officers. Speed limit around garrison was 20 mph in many places. They were in a hurry to get back and sleep, and so was I. I was pushing 30.

I got pulled over. The SP came to me and asked for my info. He looked in the vehicle didn't even warn me - he just let me go after about 30 seconds.

I'm convinced that he felt bad for me with all those officers in there.

I was pulled over 4 times in a month for speeding...I managed to get out of a ticket twice. Once by crying...like a sissy girl and the second time when the officer asked for my license and registration...I handed him my two other tickets as well! :S

Needless to say...he had a good laugh and let me off with a warning!:)

cleavage works for me too...0oh wait I have been going to the gym and dont have cleavage any more

hmmmm I usually call up one of my cop friends (I have many which is why I still have a license after being a driving lunatic in my 20's)

and have them harrass the person who wrote the ticket until I get either an 1110A or 1101A

which is in order parkign on mavement or failure to obey traffice control device

the other option is to slow the f down (which I did) and now my insurance rates area lot cheaper

VERBAL JUDO

its all the rage in Georgia police training classes

you are to first state your name and title

1 officer XYZ and agency

2 state why you stoped them

3 ask is there was any lawful reason for exceding the posted pseed limit

doint this is supposed to eliminate the drivers asking who the officer is and where does he work
and when they say no to the question of reason for breaking the law (usually audio recorded) ,that recording can and will be produced if you contest the ticket

In 11 years of working in law enforcement i never gave a speeding ticket but issued over 400 DUI tickets/cases and never lost a case
and while at it did drug interdiction on the interstate and the worst year (6years) got over 1 million dollars of drugs off the streets

cops get sooo tired of hearing the following
:P:(>:([:/]
DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM??
I KNOW THE CHIEF/SHERIFF
WHY ARE YOU NOT OUT STOPING REAL CRIMINALS
QUOTA OF TICKETS??

true story
I was driving a car full of skydivers ,on the way to Cullmon Al. DZ and was pulled over for speeding. Yes I was doing about 65 in a 45
he asked me if I knew I was speeding and I answered
"ANY LAWFULL REASON FOR EXCEADING THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT" AND SMILED:)
HE THEN ASKED WHERE i POLICED:S

did not even get a warning ticket:)

yes it is called a badge americard, never leave home without it;)

Knowing the cop or chief of police helps. Don't lie to them or try to hide anything. A friend of mine gave me a book about this topic but I don't think I ever bothered reading it.

I got out of one once because it was my birthday and I was wearing my baseball uniform. Another I had my mom with me and I guess that was reason enough. If I think I'm about to get a ticket I'll just turn as soon as possible and try to lose them without breaking any more laws or act like I'm about to stop somewhere and that seems to work sometimes.

I've had other instances where I thought I was going to get a DUI but passed the field test, and another time it was New Year's Day in Tahoe and I got pulled over. The female cop asked me, "What part of spinning in the middle of the highway, swerving all over the road, dancing in the car with both hands off the wheel, spinning your tires, and speeding do you think is acceptable?" To which I replied, "Nothing at all ma'am." She then asked why the car smelled like alcohol since there was an open 40 we had just been drinking. My passenger stepped up and said "That's me, I've been drinking".

I've just not stopped before, actually sped up and went and hid. I don't recommend this. He was coming the other way though and had to turn around. Too bad soo sad.

One night I came tearing around a corner at a stop light just to hear my stupid new air filter suck in the air and here come the lights. Crap. So he comes up and says what was that all about. I go, sorry I was being stupid. He goes yeah you were. License, and insurance. I give it to him as he asks have you had anything to drink tonight. Yes sir. What? I had 2 long island ice teas last one was about just over an hour ago.
Step out of the car please. My thought was i'm going to jail.
Gives me the breathalizer and gets my vehicle info back on the radio. Asks me where I'm going. I say home. He says well, you need to slow down a bit. Drive safe.
I could not believe it.

My girlfriend'f former boy friend was a firefighter and had given her a nice window sticker from the fire fighter's union. For soe reason she never gets a ticket.

I haven't had a ticket in a long time. The last time was court for doing 105 in a 50 zone.

2 times; just out of college in Illinois I hadn't bothered to change my license or Driver's license from the Florida info yet.

I said I was visiting a friend up here & wasn't familiar with the fact that a big 4 lane hwy had such low speed limits. He said be careful.

2nd time I'd had my purse stolen the night before @ a club. in the AM i was racing to the hardware store to get a copy before my roomie went to work. Since my wallet was MIA all I had was the receipt Florida use to give you when you got your license & my police report. I guess he figured I'd had a bad enough day.

A 3rd time I had a ticket for like 5 over then a month later had a pending DUI w/ a speeding ticket (95 in a 30). Pulled over on my way home and found that apparently in IL if you get more than 3 tickets in a year you lose your license - perhaps it was my crying when the officer told me that news; he took pity & let me go.

Also found out that in IL even though the legal limit is .08, if you blow over .05 they can decide to prosecute you. I blew .055 & they didn't like my perfectly clean record. I got out of it:D.

All that was in the first 6 months after college. I've since learned that driving as defensively as I do is dangerous enough;). Now I stick much closer to the rules.

There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear.
