Dumpster 0 #1 May 8, 2006 Ok - So I sold the Sporty during the break-up with the missus - Now I've got spring fever and the garage at the new house is not right without a bike in it. I'm thinking about a crotch rocket - Kawi most likely - What's a good choice without going over the top? Easy Does It
WatchYourStep 0 #2 May 8, 2006 I'm not a big fan of the Kawis. I do really like the way the CBR600s ride as well as the Yamaha R6s. Both have good get up and are fun on the twisties. If you're looking for a liter bike I'd go with the R1 hands down. It's a sexy machine with a lot of power but still very agile. warpedskydiver 0 #3 May 8, 2006 Buy a Busa...if you have enough sport bike experience.... I will ride with you if you want a bike that will last buy a Suzuki or Honda. If you don't mind expensive upkeep get a Ducati

Dumpster 0 #5 May 8, 2006 So many to choose from - It was easy when I rode Harleys - Well I think I'll head out to our local Honda dealer later tonight - Then the Kawi shop - Don't know where the local Busa or Ducati dealers are - But that's what the 'net is for! warpedskydiver 0 #6 May 8, 2006 I don't own a Busa but I have ridden one for a few hours, and it was the most comfortable sport bike I ever have ridden. To me that says ALOT. it's fairly nimble if you are a good rider. It can stop like nothing else in it's class. It will never be " Not enough bike" for you. Might be the last bike you will ever need. I have a 1992 GSXR1100N and the 'Busa is the only thing I would rather ride. now I will shut the fuck up until Suzuki gives me a bike for free.
Dumpster 0 #7 May 8, 2006 What can I slap a set of bags on and take on a day-long road trip? I'm thinking sport-touring here, with some emphasis on sport. Easy Does It

shropshire 0 #11 May 8, 2006 If you're looking at a mid-size (600cc) I dont think that you could go wrong with an R6 (I've had 2 and they are seriously good). If you like the torque of the Sporty then how about a Duke (had 2 of these.... 900SS Desmo Darmah and Monster) or even a Buell (too tall for my little legs). But for quality, if I was changing this year, I'd think about a Triumph Daytona 955i (still 32" seat hight tho') What ever you decide ... stay safe and post pictures. . (.)Y(.) Dumpster 0 #13 May 8, 2006 Yeah I'm thinking 600 - 750 cc range, I'd like to go Sport/Touring but they seem to be out of my price range. Easy Does It

CornishChris 5 #16 May 8, 2006 I hjave just put down a deposit on A Triumph Sprint ST. Pick it up on 19th. I do lots of motorway miles in and out of London so need a comfy bike but also one that is sporty enough for my weekend twisty riding. I have had a VFR 800 VTEC for 4 years and it has been an awesome bike. the only reason i am changing is that I have had it for 4 years and it's about time to. For sport touring go for exactly that - if you want to race on a track or only go out at weekends to ride fast then a 600 sport may not be right for you. the R6, Triumph 675 etc are absoultely awesome bikes but not that practical for lots of miles, especially for me at 6'3". On the 675 in my natural riding position I can't see the dials and after an hour in one position on the motorway my wrists would have fused into one bone. From what you say UI would reccomend the VFR, the Sprint, maybe one of the big BMW bikes - they are also awesome, or even a big V-Twin like the 1000 Suzi (big bro to SV650 can't remember every combo of letters and numbers though). All that said I am moist in anticipation of my triumph - and glad to have bought British! CJP CJP Gods don't kill people. Not sure if the 2006's are. Main reason I didn't get an R6 is because it felt like a mini bike when riding it. And I'm not THAT big of a guy. lol at least not anymore. www.FourWheelerHB.com

nigel99 620 #19 May 9, 2006 Look at the Yamaha YZF600 (Fazer) if you get them in the states. Good riding position and has an R6 engine in it. I regularly do 100-200 mile journeys. Stumpy 284 #21 May 9, 2006 http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/3565.aspx One of them - stunning, fantastic to ride. I would forget the Busa if you haven't had a sports bike before. People will say "its easy to ride slowly" Sure it is, they are probably the same people who tell you its easy to take a tiny canopy on a straight in approach. That might be true but are you likely to do it? The Busa is a 200mph motorcycle, up until a couple months ago the fastest production bike available. If you want something a bit more relaxed: CBR 600 (NOT the RR type) GSXR 600 (or better still the 750, i reckon one of the most capable bikes out there) Kawasaki 636 (old shape) Yam fazer (the R6 is pretty head down bum up) Alternative choices: Ducati supersport, SV650 or Aprilia falco if you prefer a twin, BMW "sports" bike if you err on the touring side, or any of the nakeds - Kawaski do a couple of nice ones.Never try to eat more than you can lift
