NoRules 0 #1 May 11, 2006 What do you think?? Will I get fired on the spot or can I pull it off? I'd get real thin ones so they can kind of look like braids from far away... Note: Professional means professional... dress code is jacket and tie here. Ahhh I want them!! Slappie 9 #4 May 11, 2006 Isn't that where you don't wash your hair for 6 months and it all clumps up in wads? Personally I have no clue how you make them or get them etc.. I do not find them appealing and by no mean professional. To each their own though.. express yourself however you wish. Just remember you may wind up with the 6 month variety. ChrisL 2 #6 May 11, 2006 I dont think dreads are attractive on anyone. My cat has dreadlocks though, and thats pretty interesting __ My mighty steed
weegegirl 2 #7 May 11, 2006 I had dreadlocks when I was a little hippie chick in high school following around the Grateful Dead. Thank you God for letting me pass through that phase of my life relatively unharmed and normal. Would I get them now? In an office environment? Heck no! And no I don't think they are professional looking in the slightest. But as others have said... to each their own. If you want em, get em. I have a couple of jumper friends with dreads, however I don't think those two have professional 'office' type jobs to hold. Honestly, I wanted to do my hair in small corn rows a few years ago. I had them in Jamaica, and they just looked SO COOL and a redhead with cornrows is so unusual that I think it would have looked quite attractive, especially if I did just the top 5 inches and left the rest long. Alas, I was a bank exec, and I decided that I could not exude the appropriate level of professionalism in a hair style that would look too 'extreme' on someone like me. I definitely could have used the bank's dress code, which states that 'ethnic hairstyles' were acceptable, though I was not of the ethnicity that generally wore their hair in that fashion. I'm not an attention-seeker though, and I really think having such a dramatic 'do would have brought too much attention, positive and negative, to a position in which I was to 'blend in' and look like every other typical bank exec. Same reason I didn't use the lovely shade of robin-egg blue with gold shimmer on my nails. Cute? Fun? Young? Oh yeah! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
