I knew a woman who, when talking to me very animatedly, would reach over and sort of lightly poke/push my arm with her hand a little for emphasis. This went on over time. It was weird.

I stopped listening after a while and just waited for the touch. Then I started imitating it, doing it back to her. Then I turned so I wasn't facing her. Finally I just grabbed her hands and held them. Which was weirder.

So she stopped.
