skycat 0 #1 May 16, 2006 I was reading an article that says the number of people switching to cell phone only households is on the increase of 1% every 6 months. About 6 months ago I got rid of our home phone and definitely don't miss it. So how many of you have made the switch?Fly it like you stole it!
NWFlyer 2 #2 May 16, 2006 It'll be two years in August. Haven't missed the landline at all. It got to the point where the only thing I was using it for was to download TiVo program data, so I finally set up a network, networked it, and cut the cord for good"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Icon134 0 #8 May 16, 2006 in 2000... I had a home phone in an apartment that I was never at... (except for about 3-5 hours for sleep...) The only phone calls I got were from people trying to cell me things. Which was never good for them because I like to play with telemarketers... ... I decided that since I was never home it didn't make sense to have a home phone and switched to a cell phone in 2001... I don't miss it in the least bit... of course I still don't get many phone calls... but... that just means I can survive with fewer minutes... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... efs4ever 3 #19 May 16, 2006 I reduced all options and use it for my fax at home. As a lawyer I need a fax for the days I lay around and don't go to the office like I should. Nobody has the number, so when incomings come, I just press start. They MUST be junk calls. _______________Russell M. indyz 1 #20 May 16, 2006 For all intents and purposes, I've been cell phone only for about 4 years. I have landlines, but since I bounce around between dorms, home, and now an apartment for an internship, it only makes sense to use a cell phone. karenmeal 0 #21 May 16, 2006 I haven't had a landline for about 4 years now. The only thing that sucks about having just a cell phone is that our portion of the duplex is a basement, and I don't get reception in the basement. So when I talk on the phone I'm usually pacing outside of my house. Half of the year I'm outside in the rain with no cover. (Seattle.) That kinda gets old. And people wonder why I don't return messages. -Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

I had a home phone for maybe 12 of the last 24 months, but it was just for dial-up internet access (though I did talk on it for a brief stint while my cell phone was fucked up). It was fun to answer while drunk or feeling obnoxious, cuz I KNEW it had to be telemarketers (I know of one person who knew the number, and it wasn't me.)
